Toyota pioneered the mainstream hybrid electric vehicle classification all the way back in 2008 with the well-known Prius hatchback, which did fairly well in the USA. The 2021 Toyota Prius Prime is the Japanese automaker's PHEV option and, despite the ever-improving and growing competition in the market, it hasn't changed much since its debut in 2016.
