Canon India, the well-known name in the Indian digital camera market has announced a new mirrorless camera in the country, which is priced at Rs 61,995. The Canon EOS M50 is the new entrant to the Indian market. The EOS M50 is powered by the new DIGIC 8 image processor to deliver exceptional image quality. It’s equipped with 4K movie shooting ability and an improved dual pixel CMOS AF, which will be useful to shoot high-definition movies and also said to arrive with precision focusing even under low light conditions. It also offers touch & drag AF, meaning users can also able to select and move the AF frame via the touch panel while looking through the built-in 2.36 million dot electronic viewfinder (EVF).

Speaking about the features of the Canon EOS M50, it comes with enhanced 4K movie shooting function and claimed to produce footage four times the resolution of Full HD. There’s a new 4K Frame Grab function that allows for high-resolution images to be extracted from footage taken. It also comes with a dedicated time-lapse movie setting even in 4K resolution.

Additionally, with combination IS, the EOS M50 is capable of shooting footage with reduced camera shake. Furthermore, there’s the built-in five-axis stabilisation feature. Users can also shoot at a high frame rate of HD 120p. The EOS M50 is powered by the new DIGIC 8 image processor and an approximately 24.1MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor. Canon says that with the normal ISO speed of 25,600 and expandable to 51,200, users can achieve clear shots with minimum noise for photos even in low light conditions.

And it also comes with a silent mode which mutes the shutter sound. This mode comes in very handy in some situations. The EOS M50’s improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF covers a larger AF area with up to 143 AF points (covering 88% horizontal by 100% vertical area) when a compatible lens is attached, thus resulting in high-speed AF and excellent precision over a wider area. The larger AF area also means achieving fast, accurate and smooth AF is possible even when capturing moving subjects.

Speaking about the design, the EOS M50 is the first model come with vari-angle LCD monitor, which gives the added freedom to users to shoot from high to low angles more easily.

The new mirrorless camera will be available in Stylish Black, and white colour options and Canon also introduced a range of accessories such as compatible jackets and straps for everyday usage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and NFC, which allows users to connect the camera to a smartphone using the Canon Camera Connect application (available for both iOS and Android) to transfer the images.

The Canon EOS M50 is available with a single kit option, the EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens for Rs 61,995.
