Sweet Kitchen Creations of a Different Kind

Making decadent treats lately has been a needed and favored pass time for me and has certainly help keep my mind occupied and the best part is that it has been supplementing my income, but this time round I shifted focus to some treats of a more adult nature...

Extracting THC oils up until now has for the biggest part been produced for medicinal purposes, once the oils have been extracted and tested for quality and purity by a certified laboratory, they are then used to produce healing balms, creams, medicines for cancer treatment kits and so on. But I decided to try something completely different this time and tested my hand at making some recreational marijuana candies. And I am proud to say it came out a delicious success (or at least the people that enjoyed them said so)

I always assumed that making candies would be a difficult specialized task, and up until this point I had never even considered trying to make them myself, for some reason however I decided that a new challenge would serve me well after reading up on making thc suckers online.

Normally I would do full write up on the medicines or medicinal plants that I work with - but just so that you know, this product was made solely for recreational purposes, and there is not really more than that to be said, other than taking you through the process of creating these yummy delights.

Here's How It's Made:

First I had to head out to the shop in order to get some lolipop sticks and molds, as I didn't have any of that lying around, and strangely it was easier than I thought it would be. (one of the good things about living in the city as opposed to a small farm town, is that it is easier to get your hands on unconventional items like this)

Equipment Needed

  • Candy Thermometer
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Lollipop Molds

The ingredients that I needed was quite straight forward, sugar, water and what I didn't have in the cupboard was flavoring and corn-syrup - so back to the shops it was for me. Couldn't help to think that there was no way in hell that I would find any of these things in a local store on the farm side of life, so guess city life does have some perks.

I got two different flavors, Vanilla Toffee & Gummy Sweets Flavor.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Organic Light Corn Syrup
  • 1/4 Cup Filtered Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Flavoring of your choice
  • 50 ml Cannabis oil (We use our own oils, which is FECA full spectrum oil)

Now with all of that in place, I was finally ready to get started.

Here is how it was made:

First of all I measured out all of the ingredients, combining sugar, corn syrup and water in a heavy based sauce pan, then heating up the mixture over a medium heat until all of the sugar was completely dissolved stirring continuously.

Once it reached a completely dissolved state, I turned up the heat to high, and brought the mixture to the boil, inserting a thermometer into the mix insured that I could keep a close eye on the temperatures - I am certainly no pro in the art of making candy from scratch in the kitchen, but I have read up on the process numerous times, and watching the temperature on your candy from this point onward up until molding is very important.

From here on, I allowed the temperature of the candy to rise all the way up to 149°C (that is 300°F for those of you that don't work in Celsius, then once the candy had reached the desired point of heat, I removed it from the stove top and allowed it to cool down all the way to 121°C (250°F)

Once the candy had cooled down just enough, I stirred in the lollipop flavor as well as the THC oil, making sure that everything was blended together thoroughly - and voila, my candy was ready for molding!

Right so on the first batch I didn't ready the molds by placing the lollipop sticks in beforehand and getting them ready for the point that the candy was going to be poured in, but for anyone that will try this recipe more than once... that is the kind of mistake that you are more than likely to make only once. I ended up needing to re-heat the candy once I managed to get the molds ready in order to get it back into a pourable state without burning the candy.

I molded the candy and then left it to set completely for an hour before removing them from the molds and packaging them.

I would say that my first batch of vanilla toffee suckers was a great success, and the second batch of gummy candy flavor came out just as well.

I personally do not enjoy the effects of recreational marijuana, but I do know many people who do, and everyone that has tried one of these home made candies enjoyed them thoroughly. And I enjoyed it thoroughly making them a sweet little batch of happiness...
