Why I Grow My Own Medicine 2018 Season: Article 1

Hey everyone, thank you for checking out my garden and reading my thoughts on growing your own medicine or personal use cannabis. This will be a series that will show the progress of my 2018 grow season. From start to finish with pictures and different topics each article. This first article will talk about why i grow my own medicine and what led me to this. From clones through Vegetative growth in this section. Hope you enjoy

I am a disabled Veteran, ex-army. I have back issues, ptsd, and kls. Ive been given numerous pills for pain, depression, and nightmares. Those pills made me overweight and fat, lazy, dull, and dumb with very little to no motivation. A friend of mine re-introduced me to cannabis after being away from it for 5 years. After using cannabis again, I found that it helped in many ways and I no longer needed pills. Cannabis also made me feel alive again and creative. Its like cannabis opened my pathways and connections in my brain again that were being suppressed by the pills i was being given.

Its now almost 8 years later and still no pills. However, many people are still taking pills. The stigma that is associated with cannabis from the brainwashing over the many years of poor leadership has created a haze over cannabis and what it should be used for and how much should be used. I think this is total b.s. We are not cookie cut and we are all different. We use cannabis in many different ways. In ways that help us as individuals and that goes for quantity as well. I feel that if we are able to be motivated and productive, cannabis consumption should not matter at all.
This is where growing your own medicine comes in.

I have been fortunate enough to have an expert grower as a friend and I was given the opportunity to learn from him. From this i want to give everyone the opportunity to grow their own medicine easy and affordable because depending on where you live, the prices vary drastically. This can be expensive if your always going to the dispensary to refill. I learned that while i was living in Hollywood Ca. Now where I'm at in the Emerald Triangle, cannabis grows great and its cheap. Even though its cheap here, it is still beneficial for me to grow my own because i save money still in the long run, i get to chose my strains, I know whats being put into my plants, and its great therapy.

Last season I grew AK-47, Boss OG, Cherry Pie, CherryxDawg, Sour D, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, and Blackberry Kush!

This season I am growing Blue Dream, Mendo Breath, Barry White, Cherry Pie, Citrus Sap, 707 OG, and Frosting. Ive never heard of Frosting or Frostings but my friend said it may be crossed with 707og and Durban Poison so IDK. Im sure it'll come out great. Last season i didnt use any nutriets or anything until flowering started and then i used some Humboldt Organics flowering and bloom solution. They turned out great so this year i think ill do the same except ill add some krazy kelp with it. Ive used different soils in my pots. Most of them have costco dirt. Big bags that come in once a year up here for under $10 and the plants grow just fine in it. I also have a couple plants in bags i bought from wal-mart. The other pots have my favorite dirt in them, Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. Thats the best stuff in my opinion.

So to grow your own medicine all you really need to do is get some pots, the bigger the better :) get some clones. From a friend if you can, then buy some dirt or use your own compost. Add water when needed. Its that simple. Ive invested a total of $400 into this years grow and ill have enough to last me the entire year :)
