RE: 3,000 grams of pure cannabis oil.

Definitely either splat or shatter lol. And how much it’s worth on the labs end is usually quite a bit less than say, to a retaill setting.

There’s a lot of overhead in the extract industry. Sometimes 6 figure equipment(depending on the size,) and the total plant material to make an oz of quality shatter often exceeds 3 lbs. Generally the stuff we pay $80-100/g for in the store was made from material that cost a pretty penny.

Furthermore, extract labs often get their material by partnering with farms, which means that they’re getting a cut. Not the majority.

Then we have store markup, which in the cannabis industry, for stuff that isn’t specifically known as being “budget,” or “low quality,” often exceeds 50%. 75% at some stores.

Long story short, extractors are lucky if they can sell for half of what the stores sell it for, before tax. They take on all of the production expenses, and aside from the equipment involved, the better labs have people with chemistry and other pertinent college degrees on staff.

So between high overhead, the cost of flower, and the cost of technology and employees, they’re earning any money they make.
