Legalise or Legal lies?

Drug prohibition began in (Vancouver) Canada with William Lyon Mackenzie King's Opium Act of 1908, using the "chinatown riots" of 1907 as precedence. This act was amended over the years; In 1923 it was known as the Narcotic Drugs Act. Cannabis was added to it without debate or question after the comment in parliament "there is a new drug in the schedule".

In the late 90s, Canada started talking about decriminalization.
web.archive.orgweb20130629082437.pngIn 1997 over half the population thought cannabis should be legal.

In 2015, Justin Trudeau was elected under the promise he would legalize cannabis "right away" . Every year since then, we've been told that it's coming next year: https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/04/20/canada-marijuana-legaliza_n_9738222.html (2017) http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/liberal-legal-marijuana-pot-1.4041902 (2018). This was an easy sell after Stephen Harper's 8-year reign of threatening mandatory minimums for cannabis.

Some activists like @Drutter predicted that Trudeau was just trying to get "the cannabis vote", and had no intention of ending prohibition. Alas, soon after the election, cannabis "legalization" was perpetually postponed, giving Trudeau and his cronies time to monopolize and implement life sentences for anyone not playing by the new fascist rules. In reality, cannabis should and could have been removed from the controlled drugs and substances act, but that would be decriminalization not legalization! It seems like the only interest in pipes that Trudeau ever had was to lay the Kinder Morgan oil pipeline!

Whether you prefer the American or Canadian/European spelling, it's the same sort of evil.

In Canada, it will be illegal to possess enough (edible) cannabis for serious medical conditions (up to 5 years for more than 30grams).

It will be illegal to make (medicinal) concentrates like shatter, distillate, and edible oil (up to 14 years in prison).

It will be illegal to be "intoxicated" on cannabis in public,

and police will get extra powers to detain and search people.

It will be illegal to grow non-government seeds, to grow more than 4 plants, to grow in an apartment building or basement suite, or to have any plants visible to the public (up to 14 years in prison), and the police will get extra powers for warrantless searches of houses.

It will be illegal to drive with cannabis in the bloodstream

(regardless of psychological intoxication or lack of), and police will get extra powers to take blood samples.

It will be illegal to purchase from someone who isn't government-certified (someone who actually grows organically) (up to 14 years in prison).

The few dispensaries permitted to operate will be heavily restricted and regulated, under the premise that everything entices or affects the children. For example, there will be restrictions on edibles and extracts, concentration limits on capsules, restricted store hours, bans on brand names, logos, most paraphenalia, colourful packaging, etc. They will be forced to sell only low-potency, irradiated government weed from Licenced Producers (LP) sprayed with harmful substances.

Legalization in Canada is a fascist, government monopoly serving to enrich the few... It will genocide many important cannabis strains, grow the prison-industrial complex, and stifle the cannabis culture, the free/fair market, and medical patients along with it.
