Thank you @marionbowes! Got shackled to these plants and turtles this summer. As a result we didn’t make it out east for a visit.
Crap happened at warp speed and I have retired.
All good...just circling the wagons as I catch my breath before living kicks into top gear.
Did you get through the hurricane ok at your place?
yes. thank you. we were without power for 2 days and the place is a mess. Had some Beach erosion etc. but Halifax is a mess. All over the place. sometimes being tucked in a nook in a cove is the best idea. All the time shit happens though. But hanging in. Nice to hear from you. ..:)))

I understand what you are saying completely about a little nook or cove providing some protection.
Oceans aren’t the same as rivers but wind and water forces still need to be respected. We’re tucked into a little cove and have an island in front of us that protects us from wake. We received the tail end of the hurricane but by the time it reached us, we were down to a severe storm warning. A few large tree branches down in our area and that was about the extent of it.
In other exciting news, I have retired....just coming up on 2 months. Now I am getting to things that I’ve wanted to for sooo long. Let’s get on with this living thing! Hahaha! A few days back, we left by canoe and paddle for 5 hours, packed a lunch and just got lost on a winding tributary. When we returned, we tracked our route on google earth and we’d paddled 10 km. It’s not that great a distance compared to running but the connection to nature was so worth it.

I hear what you are saying on both terms. First thing you learn on the Coast is never fight with the Ocean. It is the boss. We have had our share of winds and storms here. We take as many precautions as we can and ride it out. But we never laugh in Mother Natures face. As far as the retirement and getting lost. Yes, love it so much. Hikes, and canoes, and biking the trails and yes even running. Sometimes we take the car, or even just get lost in a city jaunt. Love it. Nice to hear from you. :))
