Today's Weed News For October 19th 2018 #$1,000,000,000

For today's weed news we go to the great state of Colorado.

While everybody is focused on Canada and their historic recreational Cannabis legalization this week, one of the OG's of the cannabis game, Colorado quietly put up some impressive accomplishments of their own.

According to a new report from the Department of Revenue, the state of Colorado has, as of August, already sold more than 1 billion dollars of cannabis this year! So now that it's almost the end of October it's probably already a lot more.

Out of the billion, the Colorado is going to get 200 million in tax revenue.

Since recreational cannabis started being sold there legally 4 years ago, this year is officially the quickest that the state's weed sales have hit 1 billion. Last year at the same time in August, the total of all cannabis sales was 4 million short, at $996M.

This totals above include both recreational and medical marijuana sales.

According to the Denver Post, it looks like Colorado has a good chance of surpassing their all-time annual cannabis sales record of 1.5 billion dollars (set last year) by December 31st. It's going to be interesting to see if the developments in Canada have any impact on sales in the Centennial State for the last quarter of the year.
