GROWING PAINS

in #cannabis8 years ago (edited)

Hi stemians! So I’ve been growing for a little bit over a year indoor with 9 harvests under my belt. At times i think i got this down, at others times i just think I’m doing horrible! But it’s important to not get discouraged and turn your mistakes into a learning opportunity . For instance i recently created my own strain by crossing tahoo og x og with an Inca gold male, I’m calling it Santa Rita og. I was using the same feeding regiment i was using for my Tahoo, and boy did i fuck it up! ...

This problem is due to over fertilization. Mainly i suspect to much cal/mag. But no worries stemians! This is a great thing because of this my next run will be even better! As you can tell the buds still look great and it still will come out fire. I just got done doing a 7 day flush and hit it one more time with a light fertilizer application.
So what I’m trying to do here on steem it is to show and hopefully encourage people to grow them selves. Cause if i can you can too! All it takes is dedication and hard work. I got the same strain going in veg mode now and I’m doing a journal so every body can see the progress. Hopefully i can also get more experience growers to give me tips on the way! So everybody follow me on my journey to grow the best cannabis possible, And don’t forget you can do the same! Don’t hesitate to ask me questions to maybe start your own grow, or if you grow and see something I’m missing please let me know! Let’s take the world back in our hands and become self sufficient and say f u to the man!

Doesnt look like too much fertilizer but not enough. Needs a small hit of nitrogen and more magnesium it looks like. Magnesium is the central atom in the chlorophyll molecule and when a plant doesnt have enough it will take it from older leaves hence the yellowing. Looks so close to harvest that it wont matter anyways man!

Google Chlorophyll and look at the middle of the molecule. Magnesium the most essential part of the molecule to be honest.

Yeah this is all part of the process. Sometimes overfertization will look like a Nutreint defiency and vice versa. I’ll check it out man! Thanks for your valuable input.

If it WERE over-fertilization then it would have caused a pH imbalance which in turn would cause nutrient lockout (imitating deficiency). In that case the buds would be very underdeveloped and stunted and the leaves would be COMPLETELY yellow not just yellowing.

I’m thinking since i switched to bigger pots i need to fertilize less frequently. I pumped these plants with a shit load of fertilizer, so next round I’m going to ease up on the fertilizer. Maybe once every 2-3 waterings vs once every other watering.

Ps they started to yellow bad after i hit them with cal/mag.

One of theses grows you gotta get a good bag of water only living organic soil & compare results. Would be surprised if you didn’t fall in love.

Everybody should grow weed!

It really is pretty silly not to. Well, depending on where you live and how much you fear prison. ha.

Ya, you have to be safe, but u can run a light & a fan in closet space for one little plant to start. It’s a fun hobby

Im starting to really lean in that direction especially seeing your setup. Any store bought brands of living soil you might recommend?

I use this as my base and add amendments as needed

Super lucky they are really close to me & they definitely have some of the best soil in the state. Pretty sure there is a really good comparable soil from an Oregon company but can’t remember the name

Ill check it out.

There is some stuff called Michigan Made that's awesome. I've seen people get some super sticky nugs using it with no amendments or nutrients.

Thanks for stopping by! Ive thought about making some super soil, but i got my hands full already. Lol

Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try on my own yet.

One thing to remember when you or if you start your first grow, KEEP IT SIMPLE! Everything comes with time and more experience. Thanks for stopping by.

Simple as in maybe just one single plant? I followed you, so I'll probably see more of your posts and that might make me want to give it a shot.

When i was younger i always tried to grow and was getting all kinds of information from books and people and i was trying to incorporate it in the grow. Like put foil on the walls, used different kinds of fertilizer, etc etc and never was successful. Starting off with one plant is not a bad start, it can get overwhelming when you do got a room full of plants. lol

Your plant is stretching a bit. What kind of set up do you use with the lamp? Overal the buds look damn tasty <3 Good job hope to see the next one soon! Check also my page out for a nice quick journal :)

Edit: or did you lollipop the plants?

I use an unknown brand of led 300 watt for flower. And yes i lollipop. And i gave you a follow to check out your grow as well. Let’s turn steem into green👍🌱🌳

Nice, the buds definitely still look good! Sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches and hope the first next time, I know the feeling very well.

One thing that’s nice about a perpetual grow i always have plants moving in and out, so when somthing goes wrong I don’t fell as bad.

What week of flowering are they in?
When the hairs turn brown, its normal for Cannabis to start getting autum colors.
I always stop feeding nutes 2 weeks before harvest and let the plant do its natural thing, which is basically just dying haha.

Week 6. And yeah your right but i did do something wrong, weather over fertilized or maybe just missed a defiency too late. Since i fell like i over did it with the fertilizer I’m guessing it’s that. It seems my flush worked as well since the leaves did not completely fall off, which i do got another plant doing just that. Either way I’m doing my best to get to the bottom of it, and this convo on steem is really helping as well. 🙏

Awesome I have some seeds of low THC / High CBD I am going to try ....

Right on! Will this be your first attempt at growing?

@jonyoudyer, I am not a grower, but I do know many of them... I would ask around on a couple of growing forums too. Either way, looks like you are close to harvest, so not much you can do at this point... make sure you flush the plants like a few have mentioned and chalk it up to a learning curve if you did over-fertilize it. All the best on the next crops cycle. Cheers
