Canada unveils "legalized cannabis" symbol
After a 2 month "consultation process", the Canadian government has considered thousands of online and written submissions, as well as input from health and law enforcement experts, governments, patient advocates and industry representatives. They came up with a symbol, to be displayed on all "legalized" cannabis products:
When I first saw it, I thought it was a joke. I checked, and there's still at least a week until April Fool's Day. This is really what millions of dollars, handfuls of experts, and 2 months gets us?
Health Canada has also decreed that brand logos must be small, plain, and single-coloured. Only one brand logo per package. A yellow background with black warning text like "do not use if breastfeeding or pregnant" must appear. (source)
Wait, I've seen that symbol somewhere before...
After staring at the symbol for "legalized" cannabis, it dawned on me: It's almost identical to a stop sign!
If you look closely, you too will see the similarities! (I'm being sarcastic here, because we all know a stop sign is EXACTLY what it is.)
Legalization really does boil down to that, though - a great big stop sign! It has never been about making cannabis less illegal, or about making Canadians more free. It's about controlling the people, and monopolizing an already-thriving industry.
Here's my re-design of their new logo, which better encompasses the feeling of legalization and cannabis freedom we expect:
#noprisonforplants #endcannabisprohibition #freetheweed #illegallyhealed #fuckcancer
Stop! Danger! Warning!!! lol
Even funnier is that a lot of the product coming out of the Licensed Producers IS literally a biohazard, like all that crap containing pesticide that breaks down to hydrogen cyanide when heated! Well, dark humour, not actually funny.
Whoa, Health Canada needs to hold their horses, they're seeing red like a bull. Isn't THC all about the green instead?!
They just can't resist throwing that subliminal in there and yeah it's not like it was well hidden. I like your symbol way better.
I am not going to be surprised at all when they totally screw up legalization.
Governments are such a joke. It's unbelievable.
Legalizing only "official" cannabis while jailing everyone else is already a fail. So many peaceful people in jail for helping cannabis patients beat the odds, or giving kids with epilepsy a real life. IMO, the poisonous irradiated sticks and stems coming out of the Licensed Producers, with THC caps and Monsanto genetics, is NOT real medicine and not suitable for safe recreation either.
Back in the late 70's I had a couple of friends and co-workers that we used to work in a grocery store and I was the night closing manager. The store use to close at Mid-Night Pacific Time and after work me and my friend Dave and Mark would go to Mark's Pad and Relax have a few beers and listen to music while doing some Bong Tokes. Mark had Epilepsy and was on Prescribed Medication at the time. The Funny thing was that Mark actually had Less epileptic seizures when he was hanging around with Dave and I and just smoking a few Bowls. Here I am talking about this 40 years later and I look fondly on those days when POT yes was very illegal in California, but here were 3 friends hanging out because we were also co-workers and even then Dave and I knew that Mark despised his Prescription Medication in favor of smoking with his friends and enjoying Life more because he knew and we knew that the Plant was not Poison to his body like the Pills the Doctor gave him were. By the way Drutter I don't know where Mark is today but I got to admit that "Iron Lungs Lindholm" (that was my nickname for Mark) Loved the comradery of his Friends and the Steve Miller Greatest Hits Album 74-78 far more than the Medical Poisoning System.
This is why @drutter and I have never told you this that my Heart goes out to you and Katie...........
That's a great story, @stokjockey. It sounds like you have some fond memories of that time. Mark was lucky to have you friends who supported his preference for cannabis! How much braver you must have had to be 40 years ago, without the benefit of smartphones or even computers at all, to choose cannabis in the face of Reefer Madness. At least @MediKatie and I can research it and know the powers-that-ought-not-to-be are and have been lying to the people. We've done years of heavy research and read dozens of studies on cannabis as medicine. Now Katie's got something growing in her abdomen and today the receptionist screwed up the doctor's orders again and didn't fax the URGENT request for an MRI. Now she's got to spend another full day going out to the doctor's office just to get him to sign something and collect his fee. And then another day calling and making sure the clerks get the order right, order the right kind of MRI, and don't f^$% things up AGAIN. 6 years since she first had symptoms and still no diagnosis, no plan, nothing to ease her pain. She's got to go to the black market to get her cannabis, even now in 2018, because she can't find a doctor willing to give her a real prescription (for free). She has a court date coming up for "obstruction" charges, relating to her cannabis activism. The announcements today are discouraging. We've seen the direction this was going for many years and I warned about this on my YT channel many times in 2012 and 2013. I was ignored or called paranoid. Now that it's all happening, I take little pleasure in having been right!
Katie and I hope Steemit might be a personal game-changer for us. Our silver went to $16 and got sold off so we could survive. Her college degree turned out useless. Now she's got a criminal record (for doing nothing wrong) and can't get most jobs in her field (teaching ESL) anyway. I knew Bitcoin was going to be huge but I stayed out of it on personal grounds. I got a few bitcoin tips for my YT videos in 2016 and 2017, but I was so sick after Grama died, and then we ended up homeless for 6 months (as you know). So with basically nothing left, and our health in question, we're working hard to establish ourselves here! I moved my little Bitcoin savings into Steem the other day and I'm happy about it. It's totally separate from our other finances (we can't yet move between cryptos and fiat). That's probably good, because we're very poor, and we would have spent it long ago. Being mostly untouchable keeps it safe! Not that we don't have self-control. It's just that when it comes down to eating, or saving, you choose to eat.
It seems so many others have the same idea - make money on Steemit. And some of the others don't play fair. It sucks to see people self-upvoting or using 20 fake accounts to spam their way to wealth. That seems so against what Steemit is all about... I really hope something gets done about it soon because the reward pool seems to get smaller and smaller for REAL content creators. As the site continues to grow, shouldn't our paychecks be growing too? Instead, we can barely scrounge 30 cents off a post that takes sometimes hours to make, including all the models and photographer and editors. If that 30 cents doesn't become 30 dollars (and hopefully a lot more) soon, who is going to stick around here? Just the whales and the bots and the spammers? And then it will collapse. But soon we probably won't even be able to make 30 cents on a quality post, at the rate things are going.
So we feel hopeful, but also a bit anxious. And the nonstop health issues are wearing.
We definitely appreciate the medicine for what it can do for us.
Thanks for your comment!!
Ahah wow I'd have to say I like your redesign much better
LOL thank you very much : )
