An historic moment in Canada approaches - cannabis "legalization"

This historic moment is one which has been anticipated for generations, and whose effects will be felt for generations to come.

Cannabis prohibition has harmed millions of otherwise law-abiding, peaceful Canadians. In fact, it has harmed ANYONE who has paid with their resources and tax dollars to fund this expensive and ineffective policy.

In 2015, Canadians finally elected a leader to end the abuses of prohibition. He came bearing a friendly smile, nice hair, and the promise to make "cannabis legalization" his "top priority".

Tricked! Again!

Now a few years later, almost all who supported Trudeau have recoiled in horror at the result. Prohibition isn't ending, and in most cases, it's increasing. Companies, mainly owned by ex-cops and ex-government-officials, have positioned themselves for guaranteed profits by providing the only government-approved cannabis in the country (medical, recreational, or otherwise). The existing industry, right down to the little guy with a tiny closet garden, will still be illegal. Anyone outside the legalized regime is subject to $10,000 fines and up to 14 years in jail for non-crimes like growing or owning too much cannabis, trading it at a farmers market, concentrates, edibles, glassware, and other parts of the cannabis culture here in BC. Things that would be included in any real legalization will get us thrown in jail to protect a government-run corporate monopoly.

As a few of us warned all along, "it's a trap".

If every cannactivist in Canada began working together against "legalization" today, would we be able to stop Trudeau in time? Maybe not.... but I won't go down quietly!

With just a few months before millions of innocent Canadians come under another layer of police oversight, another vice around the free market, another encroachment of Big Brother, another breech of the right to Liberty....

Let's march!

Cannabis users and supporters around the world gather for the "Global Marijuana March" every May! This Saturday, we gather at the Vancouver Art Gallery at noon. The march leaves at 2pm, and we will shut down our city streets, as we safely make our way through town to English Bay. Weather for Saturday looks great!
