Trade School in Colorado Is Training Cannabis 'Sommeliers'

in #cannabis8 years ago

A trade school that's located in Colorado, the Trichome Institute, is looking to train cannabis enthusiasts and foodies on how to become cannabis sommeliers. The school is a cannabis trade school and it also provides other online training and education resources in cannabis sales, and more. For those who want to be trained in becoming a sommelier, they will learn how to study the plant's smell and taste in order to make expert food choices that might be able to be paired with it. The cannabis industry in the United States and around the world continues to extend widely into the culinary world and food market, as more people are looking to try products that contain this ingredient.

Smell Training

There are sticky resin glands on the cannabis bud, which resemble crystals, and they produce fragrant oils that are referred to as terpenes. This terpene content is going to vary from plant to plant and a growing number of chefs are learning to incorporate this into creative and innovative new food dishes.

When an individual is able to understand the differences and can differentiate between them, then this is the beginning of them becoming an educated cannabis sommelier. The students will be exposed to a variety of lectures and laboratory experiences that will enable them to dissect live cannabis samples. They'll hold discussions on what foods might be perfectly paired with each variety of cannabis and when the students are finished with their training they will be awarded with certification. Those looking to get certification in this area are looking at costs of around $199 for the course package costs.

As the cannabis industry continues to grow around the world we can expect to see a number of new training opportunities like this one which will seek to meet needs in that area. There are needs for training growers, educating and training dispensary cashiers, educating chefs, and plenty more. Those who move first to get any sort of official certification in this area are going to be able to have something that helps to set them apart from the other applicants in the employment pool.

The cannabis dining industry is already pulling in millions of dollars and it isn't even legalized federally. If the trend continues, it's safe to assume that cannabis sommeliers will be a major part of the future of high-class eating when it comes to cannabis dining. From small dining parties and corporate events, to bachelor and bachelorette parties, new and creative services in the cannabis industry continue to emerge in the market.

The Trichome Institute was founded in Colorado and still based there. It seeks to provide proper education on cannabis with courses, products, and more. Of course this isn't the only certification option out there either, there are already other school training options available online and more.
