Cannabis Could Help With Alcoholism And Opioid Addiction, New Study Says

in #cannabis7 years ago

A recent study took place which found that cannabis might be extremely useful in helping people with alcoholism and drug addiction. The study, which took place at UBC, involved a comprehensive review of the current research on medical cannabis as well as mental health. It was published in the Clinical Psychology Review.

It has been called the most comprehensive study to date on the topic.

There are currently millions of people who could benefit from using cannabis in order to aid in their addictions. Coming off of alcohol or opioids is going to commonly be a very painful process. Symptoms often include: nausea, headaches, sweating, irritability, and much worse. In a way, cannabis can work as a “gateway drug” in the opposite direction, which would be getting them off of their addictions. And the current research suggests that many people might be turning to using cannabis as an exit drug, in order to try and help them to reduce the use of other substances that are potentially much more harmful to them.

Researchers say that of those who have used the plant directly and claimed that it helps them in various ways, they have some valid points. They also say that more research is needed in order to try and figure out how to work with mental health professionals on understanding the risks associated with cannabis, and how it might provide benefit in various ways.

As more jurisdictions look to embracing legalization, and more funding gets placed toward research in this area, it's only a matter of time before more information comes to light on how we could possibly benefit from using this plant.

I used to like drinking, stopped completely when I discovered pot. Started using it to go to sleep but it has helped me in several ways.

Thank you for this info. I'm glad to see more positive information on marijuana finally.

I have seen this work in my experience.

I have also seen this work. One person I know has been able to get off 23 different prescription medications and successfully replace it with medical cannabis. It was a huge weening-off process but gave them their life back.

There is an opioid summit happening today in Canada. I wonder if this will be mentioned at all. I'm sure it won't make it to the mainstream news but, I wonder if the summit itself is discussing it.

It's all true. Hope things continue - I still live in an oppressed state and can't leave.

My Father was diagnosed of prostate cancer march 2015 and ever since then we have done chemotherapy 3 times but the cancer keep returning. Few months ago i heard about cannabis oil and its healing effect and i sourced the cannabis oil from USA ([email protected]) and my father began treatment immediately with the cannabis oil, after using the cannabis oil for treatment at the stipulated time prescribe by Rick Simpson, there was total cure and as i write now my father can walk around the house by himself without support from anybody and go out anytime he chooses.

Best Regards,
Vanessa Hellas

what was the stipulated time prescribe by RS?

Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but I feel this is a very important topic: https://steemit.com/drugs/@schattenjaeger/sorry-for-the-lame-generic-title-but-the-entire-spectrum-of-drugs-should-be-legalized

Upvote period is over, but that's not the point.

Marijuana is important, but all drugs need to be legalized.
