A Promise To Fully Legalize Cannabis In The Upcoming UK General Election
The UK is said to have its first majority political party in some time, heading into the general election on a pro-cannabis platform. It's the Liberal Democrats who have just recently openly pledged to push for legalization of cannabis in the country now, if they win the general election in June. They've detailed their stance in a manifesto pledge.
They say that they want to eventually allow various shops and social clubs to be able to sell cannabis in the country.
They see the current market as being controlled by gangs and they want to change that by offering their own restricted and highly regulated market, their own version of freedom when it comes to cannabis. And this isn't the first time that they have indicated that they might be open to legalizing it.
The Liberal Democrats want to welcome legalization because there is an incredible amount of wealth that can be generated from taxing the cannabis market, and they say that the plan is to spend those funds on public health. But who are we kidding, the majority of it will probably end up going toward funding illegal wars overseas. Or go toward paying interest to central banks.
They previously commissioned a study which eventually determined that the move for legalization might generate over at least $1 billion in revenue.
At least they acknowledge that the approach they are using now is certainly flawed.
They've admitted that their current method requires spending a lot of money on making the lives of many people worse. Perhaps criminalizing a large amount of people over a victimless crime isn't the best way to go about doing things.
They see a restricted cannabis market in the UK that offers to those over the age of 18 years old, allowing shops to seek a permit to begin selling the product. It's no surprise that they would want to follow similar in the footsteps of those in the U.S. that have embraced legalization, as well as other countries around the world that are already well on their way.
As of right now, cannabis is said to be the most widely used illegal drug in the UK. Which tells authorities that when it comes to cannabis, millions of people don't think that they should need to ask permission before exercising their natural rights in consuming it.
When it comes to lawmakers and other health experts and professionals in the country, they too suggest that legalization is the only solution to mental health issues and crime surrounding cannabis. Perhaps it is only a matter of time before they welcome legalization just like Uruguay, the U.S., and other countries are looking to.

Perfect :D
After the Brexit vote, they will need the weed to ease the pain from the UE split.
lol!
promise promise promise... only to get votes! Think about the promise about the 350 millions of £ promised to NHS after a the Brexit referendum...
Legalize the Herb - or should I say the Super Herb, It is true the UK government has lost the battle against cannabis/weed use amongst its population, and its though they want to steer well clear from this issue - Great Post, personally I find the Liberal democrats annoying because the vast majority are (remainers) and as a political party they are crap, does anyone remember Nick Clegg?
I suspect the people who control the UK think if it is Legalised for medicinal use or recreational purposes, they will not only be surrendering and admitting defeat, but they will lose their power to govern the people, because when it finally comes out that the government knew all about its healing properties that could have saved tens of millions of lives and all the economic benefits of Hemp etc. and how they went to great lengths to criminalise it in order to control, any credibility they have left will go up in big puff of smoke.
Wow this is so great for us uk people also upvote this so I can buy some dank Jamaican kush from hansa market on the darknet weed is also already legal in uk because people do it anyway
I wish weed becomes legal in my country -not UK and i don't consume cannabis- for the simple reason it will end a lot of crime and violence created by the traffic of a drug more harmless that is more harmless that the things they give you at the hospital.
I have a strong believe that will reduce drug war on Cannabis....
Another good post buddy. I would suggest though that whilst this is just a ploy for the failing liberal democrats to garner support among what must be a sizable share of the voting public, that they have no intention of lagalizing cannabis use and commercial sale even though they point to the increase in tax revenue. It is obvious to me at least that any legalization of cannabis and subsequent increase in tax revenue will be negated by the tax reduction from the decreased sale of alcohol. Perhaps this would not be the case and there would still be an overall net gain in tax revenue but for sure this proposal must be drawing attention from alcohol producers who have a very strong influence on all political parties.
Having said all of that I would also say that it is about time 'people' started waking up to the fact that government exists to carry out the will of the 'people'. Not only is cannabis something that is wanted in society it is literally needed for its medicinal value and craved by the endocannabinoid system we all have in our bodies. Not to mention the multitude of benefits from the hemp plant. We need to stop asking for permission to do what we know is right .We need to start breaking free from this control system and start taking back personal responsibility for our actions and paths in life..
