Personally I prefer the soil, however I have heard that 5.5 is the best ratio for hydro systems. Every plant is different, to each their own, Happy Growing!!

Hydro can be split in two categories. Roots-In hydroponics, is where the roots are constantly exposed to the nutrient solution. Roots out systems expose the roots to air between irrigation cycles.
The healthy range for roots-in hydro is 5.4 - 5.8'ish. The healthy pH range for roots-out hydro is 5.5 - 6.1'ish. The range depends on the plants, the system and the environment around them. ;)
Always learning, thanks for the tips! im more familiar with soil myself, pro mix with some additional perlite and sometimes worm castings or guano. however have been trying to dabble with the DWC deep water culture for cloning in order to fit a lot more of them in a small area thanks again for the input will definately keep that in mind!
Search for and read "Ask Lucas" on the web. It's several pages on DWC and cannabis hydroponics. Excellent information in there. Massive head start 15 years ago when I started growing hydroponically, and the information is still valid today. :)
