Marijuana is a worldwide phenomenon and is now being recognized as a plant medicine which is being used by people with a wide range of ailments.

As countries continue to legalize marijuana we will have to start making some ethical decisions, some of these decisions involve Cryptocurrency as well.

Personal Freedom

As users of Cryptocurrency and a community that respects people who want to remain anonymous (like me) we should think of the use of Crypto for marijuana users as a step forward towards a world where our personal financial freedom is accepted.

No one would want to buy marijuana with a credit card, the best method of transaction is fiat cash right now, we could easily replace that with a Cryptocurrency.

Adoption of Blockchain Technology

If all places in the world which were operating legal marijuana dispensaries used Cryptocurrency we would ultimately see more than just the adoption of digital currencies.

I would expect these companies to use Blockchain technology to ensure a precise, decentralized management of their entire business.

No Chance For Freedom

People involved in a weed-relate business all hoped that Cryptocurrency would become the answer to the federal banking restrictions that continue to complicate the legal cannabis industry.

What some people do not understand is that marijuana is not legal federally in the US. Federal laws prohibit banks and credit unions from accepting money which was used to buy marijuana

The Coins Are Here Aren't They?

Yes, there have been quite a few Cryptocurrencies made exclusively for use in the cannabis industry. I will only mention 5 cannabis Cryptos which have trade volume and I believe have opportunity to grow (hehe) in 2018.

Potcoin

Launced in 2014, Potcoin is one of the first altcoins launched exclusively for the cannabis industry. It is technically very similar to Litecoin and has similar features. It also has an incentive to be used to buy and sell cannabis. At time of posting Potcoin is priced $0.178562.

Paragon Coin

This coin is just over half a year old, already at a value of $0.253662. Paragon aims to provide transparency within the cannabis industry and aims to provide regulation in a good way. The team has many great ideas about how this could be achieved and are slowing putting them in action.

Cannabis Coin

Cannabis coin is quite similar to Pot coin. It is a peer to peer Cruptocurrency which strives to make transactions between a buyer and their dispensary easier. Cannabis coin could be exchanged for the marijuana at a pre-determined rate. It is valued $0.072869 now.

Sativa Coin

Sativa coin has also been around since 2014. It is currently valued at $$0.061324. It was less than a cent at the beginning of the year! That alone is a reason to invest. Sativa coin facilitates proof of stake.

Hemp Coin

All of the above coins are made to be used to buy marijuana. Hemp coin is different. It was created for the dispensaries and the farms which cultivate the cannabis to use. Hemp coin has plans to partner with Dash which could make it a very interesting coin to watch in 2018.

Step Into A Medical Marijuana Dispensary Owner's Shoes

There are countless dispensary owners who lose their entire savings because their fiat currency was stored in a federal bank.

Marijuana is only legal and/or medical in certain states in the US right now. It is very common to hear that a federal bank has seized all funds from dispensary owner's accounts even if they have followed all regulations and paid tax on their purchases.

If you are stealing their money when they are in your bank let them use the Crypto! This is a complete injustice!

I believe that the use of Cryptocurrency will be the most beneficial to dispensary owners. They will learn about the potential of Blockchain technology and will have full control of their money with a private key which a select few owners would have access to.

Cryptocurrency is the future of our monetary systems so we will one day buy our weed with it!
