RE: Cannabis chronicles 20, an overdue update
Wow great looking plants there- I just boosted your vote 500%!
So the yellowing of the leaves is perfectly normal during flowering as the plant begins to run out of nitrogen. You should remove any dead or dying leaves (just gently touch and if it falls of then its ready) to prevent mold or other pest from growing on them.
The plants are ready for some flowering nutrients though, so use higher amounts of Phosphorous and Potassium with low nitrogen. I like to use bat guano that has been premixed into my flowering blend, but be sure to check what kind of bat guano first cuz different bats from around the world have different nutrient compositions from their diets.
Additives like "Snowstorm ultra" with 0-0-3 balance will increase the trichome and terpene production and the results are usually really nice with nutrients like this in the last 2 months of flower.
Thanks for the good information!
I was wondering about if I should fertilize at this stage of growth. I'll have to go to the local grow shop and see about getting some fertilizer with the right formulation for flowering.
You are in early stage of flowering so you wanna get something that is low Nitrogen, but high in P/K and increase the dosage per gallon over the next few weeks as they enter aggressive flowering.
The slight boost of Nitrogen will help green up some of those fan leaves but yellowing and leaf loss is completely normal throughout flowering, as the plant runs out of nutrients and takes from older less used parts.
I always supplement with some "black strap" molasses, which often times will be an additive for nutrients, but I like to put a little bit more towards the end. What that does is cause the buds to have a bigger yield- the theory is that the extra sugar helps to feed micro-organisms in the soil and that gives a boost to the plants.
But as always keep it simple and go slow with fertilizers.
