Probation or Community

How would it be
If a way to pay
Debt to society,
Was a choice of jail
For a course of years
Or a year that feels like an eternity....
During this eternity,
By the given choice,
Your never asked to be alone
But to care for the first available animal...
The world needs caregivers and you are now one, for the year and oh no,
It's not a cat or dog that's picked,
But you are giving comfort to a cow.
You must explain this to society,
And society must respond,
For the cow is in your life now,
Together you belong.
No News reports, no running away,
No reason to be dishonest,
Just you and your cow and a year,
Maybe you could do it,
Could society?
