Canada: The Atwal narrative is falling apart

in #canada6 years ago

The Atwal narrative is quickly unravelling, and there’s little Trudeau can do about it.

It’s been just over 2 weeks and the government has basically been unable to substantiate the claim that India was at fault. People within the Liberal ranks are breaking from the collusion narrative, one of those people being our very own Foreign Affairs Minister, Chrystia Freeland. During an interview with CTV news, she explained that her message to the Indian Government was that the invite was 'an honest mistake'.

When pressured in the interview, she would not confirm the collusion narrative was accurate.

Jaspal Atwal himself would then commit to a press conference with his lawyer in which they would try to set the record straight. This would be very revealing as it was communicated that Atwal has attended many events, interacted with many politicians, and engaged in friendly interactions outside of political events. If anything it was an attempt to restore his name and simply made those who wanted to disassociate themselves with Atwal look like liars.

Either way, this attempt clearly failed to reassure people, as YouTube videos like the CBC’s have received 136 dislikes to 40 likes thus far.

To make matters worse, we now have the Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh publicly stating on the record that he has and would attend Sikh separatist meetings in the future. Among those he attended in the past, he referred to India as “our country where we live.”

This presents an enormous problem for someone who wants to be leader of Canada and creates a lot of problems when trying to clarify Canada’s stance on a united India.

We may actually see something good come out it though, as the result of all this has been a petition put forward calling on the House of Commons to launch an open investigation into the Prime Ministers Office following the Atwal invitation. The text of petition titled E-1560, sponsored by Conservative MP Larry Miller states, 'The Prime Minister's Office has demonstrated the lack of security protocols to prevent the invitation of convicted terrorists to state dinners in other countries' and calls for an investigation into the security failures by the PMO and solutions to fix them.
