Liberal Government is at it Again. Dreaming up New Taxes

The following is a letter from the Taxpayer Federation of Canada. Please read it and spread the message.

Dear Supporter,

A day never seems to go by in Ottawa without someone proposing another new tax.

Recently, it was the Screen Composer’s Guild of Canada (SCGC), a lobby group representing music artists and TV and film producers, that are calling for a new internet tax.

The SCGC wants the Trudeau government to force any Canadian who uses more than 15 gigabytes of internet data per month to pay a new “downloading tax” and to hand the money over to their members. Of course, Canadians already pay taxes when we buy our internet service.

We already pay (through their cable fees) into cultural subsidy funds like the Canada Media Fund.

And we already pay for services like Netflix directly.

As of today, the Trudeau government hasn’t given them an answer.

But so far, the only voices they’ve heard from are SCGC lobbyists.

We think it’s important that they also hear from CTF supporters.

Will you take a few minutes today to email Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez and tell him to say NO to industry lobbyists calling for a new internet tax? His email is: [email protected]

We know the government backed off their plans for a “Netflix tax” because they realized how many people opposed it. It’s time to make our voices heard again.
