If Canada Wasn't Free, Would You Help Make It Free?

The vast majority of Canadians, at least the ones I have spoken with, are under the assumption that Canada is a "free" nation. I have even had someone state to me "we have never been as free as we are now." It is in this light I feel it necessary to define the term freedom, as it seems to be greatly misunderstood my most Canadians.
Freedom is defined as;
1 : the quality or state of being free: such as
a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action
b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : independence
c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous
freedom from care
d : unrestricted use
gave him the freedom of their home
e : ease, facility
spoke the language with freedom
f : the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken
answered with freedom
2 a : a political right
What Is Canada?
Canada is popularly described as a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy. What is important when taking into account the political makeup of Canada is the hierarchical order in which they reside. Canada is first and foremost a constitutional monarchy. The relationship between the monarch and Canada is described by the house of commons of Canada as such:
The Crown plays a key role in Canada’s parliamentary system of government. All executive authority is understood to derive from the Sovereign, who is Canada’s formal head of state. The state is embodied in the Sovereign; therefore every one of Canada’s Members of Parliament is required to swear allegiance to the Queen. This is also why the state, in Canada, is often referred to simply as “the Crown”.
Canada is, however, a constitutional monarchy, founded on the rule of law and respect for rights and freedoms. Therefore the Sovereign actually has very few powers and prerogatives. The authority of the Crown is delegated to the various branches of government according to the provisions of the Constitution.
Elections are called and laws are enacted in the name of the Crown. No bill may become law without Royal Assent. Formally, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet are the Crown’s council of advisers. They govern in the name and with the consent of the Crown. The Sovereign is represented in Canada by the Governor General.
As the owner of a massive corporation can not possibly oversee every aspect of their business and must hire Presidents, Vice Presidents and Managers, the queen delegates much of her duties to allow to her to focus her time where it is required.
Who's This Governor General?
The governor general of Canada is a title and position appointed by the monarch of Canada. This position is not elected by Canadians and serves at her majesty's pleasure, which pretty much means as long as the monarch sees fit. The current governor general of Canada is Julie Payette, appointed by the monarch of Canada on October 2nd, 2017. The governor general is the viceroy of the queen of Canada.
viceroy:
1 : the governor of a country or province who rules as the representative of a king or sovereign
A few things to note about Canada's current governor general. She;
- Is an extraordinary commander of the order of military merit
- Is a commander of the order of merit of the police forces
- Has an extensive background in computer sciences and engineering, including work with voice recognition software
- Wrote a thesis on computational linguistics, which is a field tied in with artificial intelligence
- Was chief astronaut for the Canadian Space Agency and has left the earth more than once
On a side note: The Canadian Space Agency is governed by the minister of innovation, science and economic development. This position is a title appointed by the governor general of Canada and is also at her majesty's pleasure.

Are free people ruled by a monarch?
Coercion Or Constraint
Definition of coerce
1 : to compel to an act or choice
was coerced into agreeing
abusers who coerce their victims into silence
2 : to achieve by force or threat
coerce compliance
coerce obedience
3 : to restrain or dominate by force
Ask yourself, does the Canadian government use any tactics to compel you towards certain choices? Are there any circumstances where force may be used against you, justly or otherwise? The fact is, most legislation is complied with due to fear of violence (violence being any violation of rights).
- Why do we pay a fine? To avoid further penalty or denial of services.
- Why do we pay taxes we can not afford? Threat of fines and imprisonment.
- Why do we comply with police? They're armed to the teeth.
- Why do we pay for permits and licenses? For fear of fines again...
Are we seeing the pattern yet? If every choice is influenced by the threat of theft or violence, is that freedom?
What Is Slavery?
I would say that slavery is simply taking the fruits of an other's labor without their consent - regardless of the percentage. If this be fact, and it is, taxation without consent is slavery.
Slaves are not allowed to own property. In Canada we can not own land. We get what is called a Fee Simple Title, which permits limited ownership rights, while Allodial Title is impossible for the average person to obtain. Don't believe me? Check out your land titles documents and do some research.
Registration stems from the Latin root regis meaning king. When we "register" something we are signing ownership of the property over to the crown, while retaining only limited rights over the property.
The Canadian government has several pieces of legislation allowing them to take any and all of our belongings under any number of circumstances without consent or retribution.
So let's recap this section;
- Our wages for our labor are taken without our consent
- We can not own land
- We do not own our vehicles or houses
- The government can seize our belongings
- The government can seize financial assets
Does this correlate with the definition of freedom?
Are Canadians Free?
No more free than any other nation.
- Canadians are under the rule of a "sovereign monarch"
- Canadians can not own land
- Canadians must register property and sign ownership rights of property to the crown in exchange for "services"
- Canadians do not have the right against unlawful seizure of property and assets
- Canadians are coerced to make certain decisions and exist in a state of duress
- All public servants swear an oath to the monarch
- We do not have the right to travel freely within our borders, or across them
If this sounds like freedom to you, please refer to the definition of freedom at the beginning of the post. If it still sounds like freedom to you, you're part of the problem.

Let's Become Free
The first step to solving any problem is recognizing that one exists in the first place. I get it - the reality that we are slaves living in a constant state of duress can be a hard fact to swallow. But look at it this way; denying reality doesn't change it. If we have the ability to maintain a decent standard of living and survive while living a lie, wouldn't we have the potential for much greater once aligned with truth and morality? We can see what the bars of our prison our made of, now it is time to acquire the tools we need to file through them. Cutting a bar with a file would take a really long time, unless you had billions of hands and billions of files...
The Realm Of Cause
I think freedom has become an elusive concept due to generations of oppression. Freedom starts in the realm of cause - the mind. First we change our thoughts, then we control our emotions and actions to effect change in the physical world.
Some easy grassroots ways to effect change in the realm of cause;
- Stop consuming toxic substances for the body and mind
Many people in North America spend up to six hours per day watching mainstream media and 'programming'. All while gorging on toxic processed food, high in everything bad for the human body. The average North American diet is akin to consuming neurotoxins and poison on a daily basis. - Start to eat healthy foods and drink clean water
Your body will begin to function more efficiently, providing you with the energetic requirements for complex thought and reasoning. Your brain and body are a complex computer/machine combo, it needs the proper fuels to function efficiently. - Begin to educate yourself on new topics and important relevant issues
There are many great documentaries available to get your gears rolling but reading in-depth into topics is a must for developing greater understanding. Reading will expand our vocabulary and improve communication skills, improving our ability to share knowledge. - Look in the mirror and begin working on the self
After pushing past the fear of reality we realize the hardest part is yet to come, taking a look at the shadow self and having the courage to change belief systems, habitual emotional states and actions which are contributing to our own suffering as well as the suffering of those around us. - Explore your connection to the creative energetic force of the universe
Regardless of our personal belief system, the universe is energy. We need to find ways to begin to connect to our true energetic self and the energy of the universe which does not impose on others. Find a path on which we can grow, not a religion to hold us back. I do not ask any to give up their current beliefs, only to recognize that if a higher power such as one believes in truly does exist, the methods and paths to realization he/her may provide for others may not be the same as our own and are not for us to judge.
Through implementation of the above changes to our lifestyle we equip ourselves with the tools to cause change in the realm of effects, or physical reality if you prefer. How many times have we struggled in the physical world to change our reality only to have little effect or to have it revert back even after we have effected changes?
Some examples of this are;
- Trying to lose weight or become physically healthier with minimal results, or after achieving some level of success we are shortly back to our old habits or have gained the weight back
- Try to get a promotion by working harder, longer hours, only to see another person promoted in our stead that may not (in our mind) be any better qualified
- Do, or buy, things to try to improve our general happiness in life with little or only temporary effect
- Trying to improve a bad relationship by talking, doing activities, changing physical location etc.
I am sure you could all think of some personal examples of how you have exerted enormous amounts physical effort with little to show for it. That is because you are working in the realm of effects instead of changing what is causing these effects to take place - your thoughts. The mind is the realm of cause, it is where all action, and in turn physical manifestation, begin. The physical reality has already happened, or taken place. Very little lasting change can be made in the realm of effects without changing the causal factors. These causal factors are in our mind. The change we effect by action in the physical reality is also based in the realm of cause, as we will need to think of any action prior to enacting it. This is however very short-sighted, in as much as the change we effect can only be as influential as the action we have taken. This shortsightedness, and lack of understanding cause and effect, is how we come to make decisions and take actions we regret or that are ineffective.
The Realm Of Effects
What good is knowledge if we don't apply it? Now that we have equipped ourselves with the tools to effect changes to the causal factors we are ready to begin to simultaneously start taking action, which will cause the positive change we have decided to create in our physical reality. Lasting change, change we can pass on to our grandchildren.
Some easy grassroots actions we can take to become free(er);
- Prioritize health and personal growth over working and money
- Stop supporting organizations financially that are not serving the good of the people
This includes not buying bad food, and trying to be a "responsible consumer" - Quit government jobs
- Quit your job as a police officer or military officer
- Quit any job not aligned with freedom and morality
- Spread truth and knowledge through any means
- Home-school our children
This may be the most important one listed. We could take freedom back in one generation if society were to take their children back - Boycott destructive corporations
- Boycott mainstream media
- Support and help people in your community
- Become a producer of at least one thing. Grow something, create music or paint etc.
- Take back your tacit consent and STAND UP AND SAY NO TO THINGS YOU DON'T AGREE WITH!
It's not like I'm sitting here claiming to have all the answers. If any have more to add, let's fill up the comments! Many hands make light work. We need to build unity-in-action, stop any arguing among ourselves and focus on the real problem - the reason we are not free is because we are not doing what is required to be free. There is no possibility of relinquishing control and accountability and maintaining freedom, liberty and sovereignty.
If you've made it through this post, thanks for reading it in it's entirety. I hope many will rise to the task of creating freedom and prosperity. All the information I've posted here is not meant to promote fear, it is meant to stimulate positive change through personal growth and Right-Action in the world. Please check out my blog @jayanarchon for many more freedom, health and cannabis related posts.
That's very thought-provoking!
Thanks to @paradigmprospect, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.
Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!
Thanks for the support and positive feedback!
A great writeup. Lots of knowledge dropped! Well laid out, edited, and formatted. Just enough on each topic.
Canadians aren't free. Two of the most glaring examples are: who we can't criticize (Israel), and what we can't grow (cannabis).
Thanks for the support and comment!
I think there is a large amount of steemians that share your view on things. I'm sure I'm not the first one to suggest we pool our steem and buy an island where we can enjoy a little more freedom. Finding a country that we would want to live beside that would sell us some land maybe be one of the greatest challenges of this project though.
Are you sure you've read the post?
Making physical changes will not result in freedom. We must create change in the realm of cause, which is the mind.
You can not run from a problem when the problem is yourself!
Yes, to change the world you must first look at the man in the mirror. I've chosen to strive at being self sufficient as much as possible, growing my own food, changing the way I eat, being more conscious of how my decisions effect others and the environment. I can check off about everything on the list you've made to some degree although still strive for self improvement. One man can change a lot in his realm and become a catalyst for change but we stand stronger united than we do divided.
Maybe an island isn't the answer but unity and consensus are required to change the mind of a governing party. Blockchain would be a great way for everyone to get their vote on any subject they are passionate about instead of bought out politicians being the decision makers. And steem is building great community it would be an interesting testing grounds for a project of the sorts.
Thank you for your thoughtful post! I think we all need to learn more from childhood on, how easily our mind can and is manipulated. We have to reprogram ourselves and start to think in a totally different way. I guess this will be a long way - but more and more seeds are planted...just like you did with your post.
I found you through the edition of The Daily Sneak where you were highlighted by @paradigmprospect
That's true... the way will be as long as we make it.
Thanks for the feedback!
