Income up, housing down.

Is it just me or does the planned "Rent impacts your credit score" Trudeau is proposing sound nice but effectively do nothing?

I suspect the vast majority of renters who can't get a mortgage are struggling to do so because their credit score isn't good enough, but instead their income isn't high enough to save up a down payment or that they can't afford a home that fits their need when the mortgage payments have to stay below 40% of your income.

I've seen landlords happy about having rent impact credit score because they're hoping it means tanking your credit score might be used as a reprisal for non-payment of rent.

It feels like this proposal is entirely driven by trying to play into social media memes about "rent should impact credit score" and pandering to younger less financially literate voters?

I'm not the most financially literate person myself so maybe I'm missing something, but it really does seem to be a useless measure at best and manipulative pandering and a potential weapon for landlords at worst?

The only real solution is incomes need to go up and cost of housing needs to go down.
