Camping - Finding the Perfect Tent

I am currently in the process of buying a new tent for camping. Everyone knows that I love camping and my kids love going camping and feeling the dirt between their toes as well.

Last time we went camping we decided to borrow my brothers tent which was a few years old. It had only been used a handful of times but it hadn't seen the light of day for a few years. Well disaster struck when we used it as it started to rain and the fly leaked like a sieve. Nearly ruined our trip, but luckily there was a few spare tarps lying around.

So now I need to find a new tent and I have been searching high and low for a reasonably priced tent that will last us for a few years to come. There are a heap of designs out there but ultimately it needs to have a couple of rooms and be roomy enough for at least 4 of us.

I have been looking at 8 people sized tents. There are some that now come with lights built in and even doors that close automatically!!! Tents have come a long way since the old A-Frame tent that had no floor!

Anyway, I'll find one soon and then off a camping we will be!

Have at least 20 or so tents scattered around the garage and shed and yet I still finding the need to buy a new one to build a more ultralight hiking/travel kit.
I think there's a lot of variables especially how they will be used and transported to the campsite. Half of the ones we have are those oversized 2-3 room plus sunroom style which are good if hauling in a car and planning to stay a while but they do take a long while setting up and packing down. My preference would be having a few small ones so other family members or friends can set up where they want and everyone having a little more space and privacy at night and easier/faster packing. Time in the outdoors is always fun.

We have one of those three room monstrosities. Not with lights and automatically closing doors though. Maybe wait a couple more years and then you'll be able to buy a portable house with all the usual amenties that you can throw at the ground and have it pop itself up XD

Haven't been camping for a while now though, and it would probably be a mission now anyway as middle child has developed this thing where she doesn't like being dirty -_-

Good luck finding the perfect tent :D

I think what you're looking for is a hotel.

I should downvote this condescending comment!

Zempire aerolite TL, inflatable tent.... lovely spacious tent for the family with high ceiling and super strong and stable in the wind. Because of the big size it’s pretty heavy though at I think around 22kg. Nevertheless I’m very pleased with it

After many years in that old tent and all the problems with wind and myself getting in - after to much #BeerSaturday activities - I got a nice 4 person family tent.

You build this up in 10 minutes with 2 people and even with rain you have some room to stay

Got the High Peak Como 4 here in Germany

That does look nice. I am looking at something similar!

That one wasn't soooo expensive.

My best invest for camping was a good and think mattress for my outdoor sleep

But I as well had some nights in Australia in a swag. Fun but different!
