Confessions of a Call Centre NerdsteemCreated with Sketch.

Ok, so i'm sure most of you think that working in a Call Centre is an easy job. You sit down, take calls from people who want to speak to you for whatever reason and have an easy day.

YOU WOULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG!!

Seriously, it's not just mentally draining by also very stressful, you have people calling in to shout at you, complain at you, and just generally ask for the fountain of youth. No matter what you do for people they are never satisfied. You can get people who are calling in for instance, because they are having issues with their services, you think ok, easy fix. You would be completely wrong, not only do they expect you to have the issue resolved there and then, but they also expect you to pay for their services for the next month, because they have been inconvenienced.

For instance, i have had someone calling in today, they were calling in because their services had been suspended. There was an outstanding balance on the account, which meant, sorry bub, no more BB for you. So anyway, calls in and basically asks for a credit on the account to cover the cost of the full balance.

So i'm sat there thinking, what the hell is this guy on, so i investigate the account a little more, and it turns out, he hadn't been installed properly, he was still getting services but he needed new cables in order to get them working fully. Bearing in mind now, he had been with us for 9 months, and has never paid a single bill, he has constantly been calling up and getting people to apply credits on the account to cover the cost of his services, purely because they weren't technically installed.

He was still using the services, no issues with that, in fact he was using a lot of the services, but still he wanted US to pay HIS bills because he wasn't happy. So as you might guess, being the last in a long long line of people, i said no. Now he wasn't happy with this, he's probably been used to people bending over backwards while kiss his ass to give him credits, and he kept making the argument that he had the credits because he hadn't been installed.

DUDE, ARE YOU USING SERVICES? YES!! HAVE YOU PAID A SINGLE BILL SINCE BEING INSTALLED? NO FREAKING WAY!!

And he expects me to credit his account with another £171 because there no physical cables directly installed to his house, so of course being unhappy with this decides he wants to cancel. The problem with that is, he's still in a freaking contract, and i bet you can guess what he wanted next. He wanted to disconnect for free, to break the contract with his provider and have no repercussions because of it. Not gonna happen, so i make his day completely when i tell him not only would he need to pay the account, but he would also need to pay the £134 Early Disconnection Fee's on the account, which of course he disputed.

Now i don't know what you would all think of this, or even if you've read this far, but i personally think this guy was taking the piss. Not only had he had almost a whole year of free services, he thinks that we owe him, because we haven't dug up his garden to install cables.

Anyway, would be interested in hearing your opinions of this, and if you like these sorts of stories then i will see what other interesting nit bits i can provide sometime soon.
