Coil Spring (CAD)
This post will show you the steps to create coil spring with Autodesk Inventor. Firstly, you must obtain the specifications of your coil spring. For the sake of this tutorial, I will be using the specifications shown below.
Specifications
- Wire diameter: 0.2 mm
- Outer diameter: 2 mm
- Length or height: 10 mm
- Number of coils: 20
Step 1:
Draw a circle with diameter 0.2 mm. This circle represents the wire. And then draw a 1 mm horizontal line starting from the center of the circle. This line represents the radius of the coil spring.
Step 2:
Draw a 10 mm vertical line connecting the end of the horizontal line. This vertical line is the height of the spring.
Step 3:
Go to '3D Model' and select 'Coil'.
Step 4:
The 'Coil' interface will show up. Under 'Coil Shape', click the 'White arrow (Profile)' and select the circle.
Step 5:
Then click on the 'Red arrow (Axis)' and select the vertical line.
Step 6:
Go to the second tab: 'Coil Size'. Under 'Type' choose 'Revolution and Height'. Specify the 'Height' and 'Revolution' as 10 mm and 20. Then click 'OK'.
