Cab Driver And Old Lady

There was a cab driver named Sunil who used to earn his living by driving and supporting his family.
In the dark of night, the cab driver picked up an elderly female passenger. Who was standing outside the building with a suitcase. He smiled at her and walked her to the car and placed her suitcase in the trunk of the cab.
As they started driving, he asked the woman where she wanted to go.
After telling her the address the woman asked…can we go through the city to get there?
It will be a long way... said the cab driver.
The woman smiled...I don't mind, I am going to Calcutta tonight.
The cab driver looked in the rear mirror. Her eyes were shining…I have no family left…the woman said.
The doctor says I don't have much time.
The cab driver became silent and switched off the meter.
The cab driver drove with the woman for five hours and the woman showed the cab driver various buildings where she grew up, where she worked, where she met her husband.
As the sun began to rise, they stopped outside Calcutta where two orderlies welcomed them. And the cab driver took her suitcase to her and she was already sitting in the wheelchair to get into it.
How much do you owe me?...said the elderly woman.
The cab driver said...no favors at all. this is my job
Now I must leave, there are other passengers too... replied the cab driver.
The cab driver bent down and touched the feet of the old woman and the old woman hugged him. He held her tightly.
It was a small moment of happiness for the old woman
After a short pause, the cab driver folded his hands and went on his way.
We never get to know the stories of the people we meet. All it takes is a little kindness and love to make a change in the world.
