B&W Photo Contest: German Border

in #bwphotocontest7 years ago

The Dutch-German border crosses the Aamsveen, a peat bog near my home town. On every walk, you see marker stones in the landscape.

In the old days, much smuggling went on here, by people who knew their way through the peat bog, even at night. This shot tries to capture the atmosphere of such a smuggling route on a misty evening.

Thanks for watching!

Very lively atmosphere! Steep bog and birches!

Thank you. It can get a bit creepy there at night, sometimes modern-day drug transaction take place here as well.

It is a pity that this is still happening. We will wait for humanity to become smarter!

Very nice, looks like hunted forest! Very moody.

Thank you!

excellent +++

Thanks! 8-)

That mistiness and I guess silver birch... gives me interesting flashbacks of the Yorkshire dales back at home, England. Lovely

Thanks. Some bits are indeed similar to parts of the Yorkshire Dales, I had a look around there many moons ago.

A very mysterious looking place!
You have captured it very well!
Well done @orcdu!

Thank you!

I love this black and white landscape!

I can see the crouching Nazis behind the distant trees, holding on to their growling German shepherds (known just as "shepherds" is Germany :D).

We're going back there to move the border post another meter tonight. That'll teach them.

You should sync your efforts with someone from Belgium. He will creep his post towards Austria and you will push towards the Czech and Polish border. At a pace of 1 km per day, you'll be done with Germany in less than two years.

And I hear Czech ladies are pretty!

I know a few, and they are.

Do you think we could get a European subsidy for our Squeeze Germany Project?

I don't think Chancellor Merkel would deny that request.
