I'm in negotiations here for a long couple of months, but I've two big problems: I live close to a main road on a first floor (very easy to jump) and usually I go out on weekends...what is bad for a cat (I don't want him traveling and don't want to leave him alone at home, must have at leat two cats for that!)
Well... get two cats then ;)
The jumping could be a problem though. He/she will be very tempted to explore the neighborhood.
We live on 2nd floor so no jumping allowed. And Suzi is actually afraid of heights ;)
Hope mine is afraid of heights too! A friend of mine had a cat on a third floor and the bastard jumped twice. It didn't got injured in the first time, but he disappeared after the second....:( I have an explanation for that, while he lived here in Évora he used to go out and explore roofs in the old city...sad story anyway. His name was Raven, the black cat!

Poor, silly Raven (very nice name for a black kitty). 3rd floor is very high. We have a neighbor here on the ground floor and they have 2 kitties. Their windows are on a head height. I don't know if they don't open the windows... but the kitties are always there.
(speaking of roofs - I have a very cool shot of Evora roofs. Was there a few years ago)
Theses roofs can be very pretty and strange!
