Belgian Beer Lovers Rejoice
Rochefort Abbey is one of only a few Trappist beer breweries in the world and the abbey grounds are in a beautiful part of Belgium at the gateway to the Ardennes. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive from Brussels for a day trip visit to this region.

The beer is well regarded with top scores on most beer enthusiast websites. I personally prefer the Rochefort 10, which is strong and flavorful. But the Rochefort 8 is also quite tasty and highly rated.

Indeed that's a nice day trip! What will be your next brewery visit? This summer I went to visit the Val-Dieu brewery near Liege, which was also a treat!
Hi Robin, good question. I had not planned another brewery trip, though would not mind going back to Orval sometime as I enjoyed that one as well. I was not familiar with Val-Dieu, will check it out.
