I found this old gal on my hike today. Quercus alba, otherwise known as the White Oak. They are long lived and this one was absolutely beautiful. The way the sun was sparkling through the branches and leaves was so inspiring. This picture does not do it justice, that's for sure. I want to get back out to this tree come winter and maybe grab a photo or two when covered in snow. That should be awesome! I really need a wide angle lens..
