RE: Sir Bernie Of The Butthurt Still Firing Shots In The #Butthurtwars
Disclaimer: Cryptogee is one of my best and oldest friends on Steemit. Hence, I am not an impartial obsever. Such friendship, however, does not cripple the functioning of my pre-frontal cortex. To wit:
Firstly, given what you know about the present realities of Steemit, what would you estimate the chances that @cryptogee's railing against @bernie will compel Bernie to "surrender?" Bernie is a Whale, Cryptogee is not. That disparity has consequences, one we might call, "Realpolitik."
Secondly, I have written countless posts, comments and replies about how to reform Steemit so as to, amongst other things, prevent just these kinds of conflicts. None have been considered let alone implemented. Why not?
It's not because of Bernie being a prick. It's because the preponderance of Whales and Witnesses won't implement any reform that restrains their ability to game the system.
I am not being a Bernie-apologist ... his (and other whales') policy of auto-downvoting the comments of "friends of enemies," for example, is indefensible. It is, definitionally, a gross abuse of power. Indeed, it was just such shenanigans that made a mess of the comments section of my 18-year-old daughter's first Steemit post (she had originally planned to use her account to post articles about her 8+ years of Alzheimer's Research (for which she has recently received USD $70,000 in scholarships). On that occasion, I would have liked to put Bernie's head through a wall.
Zooming out to look at the bigger picture though, the reality is that because Bernie is crass in his comportment (style), he takes a lot of shit for challenging our more polished, but nevertheless crooked-to-the-core, Whales and Witnesses (substance).
And, the reality is that, like me, as Bernie railed against the abuses ... he largely railed alone as the overwhelming majority of like-minded Steemians were happy to remain silent while letting him take all the slings and arrows of life's outrageous fortune. From personal experience, it makes one bitter. And that bitterness can cause one to become unhinged from time to time. Personally, I have had to take prolonged absences from the blockchain on two occasions because my level of disgust was becoming pathological. Perhaps if I'd possessed a pile of SP, like Bernie, my response to the endemic corruption would have been different.
Back to the present: Irrespective of all else, Bernie's and Cryptogee's on-going grudge match inarguably serves no purpose for either ... and war fought absent a purpose is the province of fools.
