Happy New Year
Happy New Years.
Apparently a large number of works from 1923, including the movie "Safety Last" will become public domain on January 1st. The image shows Harold Llyod in the iconic clock tower scene.
Congress has been extending copyright protections. So, this is the first time we have seen a mass copyright expiration for 40 years.
Going forward, there will be a copyright expiration for works created 95 years earlier.
I like mass copyright expiration events as they encourage people to study history.
PS: If you live in California or in the Pacific ocean on this side of the International Date Line; please don't look at the picture until after the New Years. I would hate for you to break copyright laws by having the image imprint on your retina.
