I think we're seeing the beginnings of hyperinflation in many developed countries...including the US.
If governments won't acknowledge the problem and change their behavior...particularly their spending problem, we will see a complete collapse of the system. I know that's what many want, but I'd rather see a willful change rather than a complete collapse. The latter will hurt many, MANY good people.
