What Is Your Vote Worth? (It's complicated)
We used to think we knew didn't we? I see a lot of people talking about what their vote is worth now and feeling angry or upset.
Here are a few things to consider:
The Reward Pool is based on averages and the downvoting and lack of bidbot usage hasn't been averaged in yet. A week after HF21 the first payouts will begin to happen and the adjustments will start. Yet they still will change as people use the site differently,
Your vote changes based on how many other accounts are voting, price, number of votes per day and now also who voted before or after you. You might test this by voting on a low-value post and also voting on a high-value post. You will see the behavior is different between posts. Your post value will be much more fluid now.
Should you keep posting on Steem with a small vote?
I have no idea, it depends on if you enjoy Steem, if you want to, what you other earning options are, what your financial goals are, etc. If you can earn more elsewhere you should totally consider it.
I knew the changes were a risk, I talked about my concern they would be hard on the small accounts, I wish they would have changed the dust threshold.
The fact is we are in an ALTCOIN Depression and Steem has been impacted even more than some other tokens. I get it. We've all been taking a pay cut for a year and a half now and the blows will not stop coming. I understand the frustration.
If you need to direct your time elsewhere I understand, but just know what we are seeing right now hasn't adjusted, so weigh that into your decisions.
Also, Steem will likely continue to move with the markets for a bit and no one knows if we will recover when the alts recover. This is a high-risk opportunity subject to change and run by a DPOS system.
To Rage Quit before seeing the results is just sort of embarrassing.
Personally I can take the risk and I choose to. I am not promising anyone future wealth or crypto millions but I've been here this long and I am going to hang in there to at least see what the next alt season brings.
High-risk investments are high risk... Let that sink in.. :)

Hey @whatsup - long time no speak. Neoxian.city brought me back to the Steem blockchain. I am actually enjoying this new 50/50 split because it encourages curation.
Example: I never used to curate because I was always stupidly cashing out steem. Now that I have a fairly big stake in neoxian.city I'm realising that if I spent about 30 mins to an hour hitting upvote on the posts I like and leaving a little comment -- I earn as much as I would from a cracking great post :)
So now I'm authoring and curating!

I think I wrote it down somewhere but one of my biggest concerns before the hardfork was patience. I was hoping people could stay calm and be patient, since in the past, many proved that to be difficult. I did expect some to blow up early though. Three days though? Embarrassing was a strong word to use there but at the same time, rather fitting.
"rage quit" sounds dynamic and exciting - how about "bore quit"? - that's what I've been doing along with powering down for the past six months...

Serious question, Don't most people vote up their own post? That used to be normal but I haven't posted in a while. I feel like the atmosphere has become so touchy so I took the easy way and just bought more Steem today.

Although it has never been my practise to self vote one could call me an advocate of the code being law. So unless/until self voting is outlawed via the software my feeling is do what you will.

There is not a shortage of people who want to write, vlog and engage, we just have to figure out how to get to them without sounding like a scam and getting them onboarded.
I feel some things are moving in the right direction.
When the platform is ready, marketing and onboarding will require some serious attention.

Choosing new steem too, because we have lived through changes before. Worried for small accounts, so doing what I can to help them. I dont need the money except to help the system. Got first downvote today, wtf. By a 25 rep with no steem. Trolling? Not unchill, a little unnerved. Trying to talk others down from leaving is hard.

Well, I'm kind of glad people are downvoting. :) And I guess that person will run out of RCs quickly with no Steem.
Just another phase in the grind, it is interesting to watch people react.
I don't have much and haven't taken anything out for over a year trying to build it up. Got everything crossed ive done the right thing. Its worth sticking at it i think :)
