RE: Are You Looking At Steem Today Or Two Years From Now?

in #busy6 years ago

thanks for a good inspiring post! :)

what is taking place with STEEM...

it is simple enough, I think: since many people here are for the purpose of Earning - naturally once in a while they want to cashout their earnings. so, they sell off their STEEM coins on exchanges. especially those who do not use Steemit, but simply are HODLers and traders of STEEM coin (as many similar cryptos). that is common when there is a downtrend of BTC and majority of Alt coins. many people get worried and FUD affected and decide to sell out. at present moment (and for a last few days) pretty much all the Alt coins are in red on CMC. it is nothing much special or different in this regard.

other factors might be: approaching holidays (X-mas, etc), people may be already buying some gifts and other related stuff for that in preparation.
also must not forget, in general stock markets are down too, "trade war" ongoing and all other related stuff. (economists cry out about crisis and bubbles)

all in all, Crypto is doing not so bad, comparing to some other assets - could have been much worse. and that's talking about all the Crypto, BTC first of all - and STEEM in this regard is not exception (since normally all the alt coins being traded first of all to BTC, less to ETH, etc)

so, yes, even though STEEM coins price dropped some 10-12% since last month - it is actually not that bad. :)
(especially taking into consideration that a lot of people are HODLing it and many more has it invested into "Steem Power", getting compounded interests daily - thus not worried so much by some fluctuation, which is insignificant, comparing to their returns)

although yes, somehow it is a bit strange that not so many analysis (TA), talks, discussions about Trading of STEEM coin on exchanges (neither here on Steemit, nor on YT or elsewhere). that actually might add to FUD - the lack or absence of such information.

however IMO it is needed to clarify one aspect:

Steem does have an advantage in that it is social media, something that many are accustomed to and familiar with.

word "STEEM" is being used here, which is a name of the Cryptocurrency. while as I can understand, rather "Steemit" platform is meant by that. :)
yes, I am aware of the fact that many people are using word "Steem" but mean Steemit. but perhaps it would be better to differentiate them. at least for the sake of clarity and adherence to facts. because certainly Cryptocurrency STEEM - is not a "social media". it is just one of the many cryptos traded on exchanges. :)
(although it has been pointed out already quite some time ago and emphasized that Steemit not is a social media, but an "Economic System" - which IMO is also somewhat too vague... anyway...)

Sort:

I disagree.

STEEM is the cryptocurrency
Steem is the social media system (or economic system)

Steemit is an application. Under your terminology, anything done on the applications is part of the Steemit system which it is not. It is on the Steem blockchain not the Steemit blockchain.

To go one step further, according to your definitions, EOS would be Block One instead of EOS.

well, thanks for clarification and for your opinion. :)

I appreciate your pointing out the lower / upper case letters usage - I was not aware it can mean such a difference. that's what creates the confusion.

some correction is due though:

I did not say such things ("anything done on the applications is part of the Steemit system"). I've merely suggested to clarify meanings of words used.

also these are not my terminology nor my definitions. I have not made them, they were used quite some time before I've even heard anything about STEEM and Steemit.

neither did I ever say that thing about EOS. that's an exaggeration
(or strawman fallacy / hyperbolic fallacy).

anyway, I stand by my statement as still correct:

Cryptocurrency STEEM - is not a "social media"

because I was talking about cryptocurrency coin / token - not a blockchain.
BTW, these are not by "my definitions" nor "my terminology". :)

however Steem as a blockchain, i.e. database / distributed ledger - that's another meaning.

as for whether it is an "Ecosystem" or not - I have my own opinion about it. which I'll abstain from expressing at present moment. anyway there is no any certain clear definition of it - mostly just some various interpretations.
