If you've started on Steemit recently, you are probably looking for any way to get more rewards. Beyond the basic reasons of 1) higher account value, and 2) satisfaction of seeing your effort produce something, there are other benefits.
- More Bandwidth
- Higher vote value
- Voting slider bar (eventually)
When I first started I used @originalworks to get a $0.01 upvote on my posts. That was progress for me. Well, here's a tip that would have blown my mind when I first started...Busy.org.
When I first heard about Busy I was skeptical. Everything with Steemit was still so new and I was trying to figure out one site. I didn't want to distract or confuse myself with a second!
That decision was wrong. Not only did I miss out on potential rewards, but I ignored that adventurous spirit that allows me to discover new and better things.
Busy
Busy.org is an overlay of the Steem blockchain, meaning it interacts with Steemit, but it's not Steemit. You still get the rewards and everything, it just looks a little different...and there is potential for much bigger rewards than $0.01! And, you don't have to do anything special to get it. All you have to do is have followers who have a combined total of 500SP.
The size of the upvote depends on how much SP your followers have. To check you can go to https://steemdb.com/api/accounts?account=username (change username to your username)
Use Ctrl + F to search for "followers_mvest." 500SP is approximately 1,000,000 Vests, so if you're above that number, you're set!

Signing In
You can use SteemConnect to sign into Busy.org. It's super easy. Just click Log In.
Pick One!
Click Continue
Enter your Posting Key
Remember to keep your Active Key only for special uses. Don't use your Master Key.
There are two places to start your posts. One for a quick post, and the other (next to your username) for a more in-depth post. I haven't used the quick post option as I like getting to preview my post.
The Upvote
You should get the upvote automatically approximately 30 minutes after your post. The size of the upvote will depend on how much SP your followers have. The more SP, the higher the vote. I've been getting an upvote of around $0.30. #yourmileagemayvary
Don't misuse this to post spam! If you post spam, your followers may choose to take their SP elsewhere. If that happens enough, you might not even be eligible to get the upvote. There are many other reasons not to post spam, but that's one of them. In the long-term, posting spam hurts you more than anyone else.

To get a free upvote from Busy, all you have to do is:
- Have followers with a combined total of 500SP
- Post using Busy.org
- Use "busy" as one of your tags

I've tried this but I don't get upvotes on all my posts. Are we supposed to get a vote for every post we use the tag on or just one a day? Do you know? Thanks.
Hi Gillian, you should get one upvote every 24 hours. So if you post at 23 hours, I wouldn't expect to get one. I believe you can use the tag as many posts as you want, but the upvote would only be once every 24 hours.

Good info! I used busy before but not to post. Already comply with the 500sp requirement. Will try it out the next post i do! Does it have any benefits for commenting?

I inadvertently upvoted my own post...by leaving the like button checked. It didn't register in my mind that this is what I was doing. I wasn't ready to do that yet since my voting power was a bit down. Well I tried to unlike it...but voting power stayed the same...was hoping to see it go back up :D
It takes a little time for the Busy vote.
I understand being low on voting power. I just realized I'm at around 16% right now. I gotta let that recharge! Ha ha.
I used my active key instead of my steemit password.
The posting keys were not working.
Can I somehow change the password that steemconnect is using for busy.org?
Weird that it wasn't working. You can go to https://steemconnect.com/login and log in to SteemConnect. Go to Authorized Apps and Revoke Busy's permission. You can try reconnecting after that.
I haven't done that before, so your mileage may vary.
Thanks for this tip, it worked for me. @busy.org upvoted me for $.31. I will be using this from no on to post. I'm sharing you link with some friends who are experience bandwidth issues.
I'm glad it worked for you! Eventually the increased rewards will provide enough SP that the bandwidth issues should go away. I haven't really had any issues since I passed 50SP.

That's really strange. I'm sorry. I know I didn't get any reward on this post because I posted 30 minutes before 24 hours had passed. As far as never getting anything, I'm not sure. Unfortunately I'm not the dev or I'd help you out. But with my programming skills...no one wants that. I might break the whole internet. Ha ha.
Have you tried hitting them up to ask why it might not be working?
