Two Sites That Should Help SteemsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #busy5 years ago

Yesterday there were a couple of sites that popped up that could be of great help to Steemians when telling others about Steem. We often find a lack of resources when trying to guide people. Sending them to Steemit.com is of little help since that does not tell a great deal about what is taking place. Even those of us here are overwhelmed with all the announcements and miss a great deal.

These two sites alleviate that.

The first was put together by @therealwolf.

It is a site that will list all the applications on the Steem blockchain. Right now it is in MVP form but will have additions made.

The other day it was mentioned how the stateofdapps.com omitted all Steem applications. This shows how people, even within the industry, do not think about Steem.

Hence, we now have https://steemapps.com/. Thus far, there are 17 applications/interfaces mentioned although we know there are dozens more to be added.

I am excited about this. As the site is filled in and the data updated, it will show the true activity on the Steem blockchain. We have more than a dozen applications with hundreds of regular users. This might not sound like much but that is all EOS and Ethereum have. Yet Steem is not even on anyone's radar.

There was a post announcing the project along with the roadmap. I encourage everyone to give it a look.

A couple things stood out. The first is this is open source. This should help with the advancement of the project since we know there are a lot of wonderful developers on this blockchain.

The second was these statements.

Many of my recent posts were very positive in the sense of trying to bring as much positivity to Steem as possible. Some steemians even argued that they were too positive or simply just hollow words.

Well, I personally wouldn't have been able to create this project, without the positivity mindset to believe in Steem.
And I want to thank all the Steemians who kept up the positivity over the recent weeks.

I can identify with this and believe that @therealwolf is correct. It is through a positive outlook and belief in the Steem community that we will get things done.

The second site that was just a link I saw posted. I do not know who is behind the project or if there was an announcement.

Nevertheless, it looks like a wonderful project.

The second site is a Steem directory of sorts. It provides educational material about the Steem blockchain,, lists, the different interefaces and applications on Steem, and information that is appearing on other social media.

There is also a messenger box where people can ask questions.

This looks like a site that could really help to spread the message about Steem. When talking to others, this is a great site to use as a resource. It looks like the initial version is packed full of information. I am sure over time, more will be added to help explain what Steem offers.

Part of the lack of recognition for Steem by the masses is the fact there is little out there to explain what it is or what is here. Even those using the blockchain are unaware of all the applications we presently have. Both of these sites should be major additions while providing clarity.

These both can provide value to the blockchain and help Steem to get more users.

Please give them both a look.

I think @theycallmedan is working on something similar.

Great to see large stake holders investing in building tools to help the steem ecosystem

I am very impressed by @theycallmedan. He has some really good ideas and is an asset to this ecosystem in my view.

steemapps.com is definitely great and very much needed. I am also talking with the developers of dapps.com and stateofthedapps.com to add Steem apps and both are interested and excited to do it. I think that once a few of these sites do it, the rest will follow as they don't want to be left behind, and that will start bringing some real attention to Steem like it deserves.

In fact stateofthedapps.com has just added steem apps, although they are still working on pulling user and transaction info: https://www.stateofthedapps.com/rankings/platform/steem

This is great news. Thanks for the update @yabapmatt.

That is very good. Progress is being made.

I really really like your steemapps page. It's really useful, I'm going to go check the few ones that I was not aware of. Great post, thanks..

you are all over it ... steem is like a limp fish this morning again though, very little volume

Yes my feed is very slow. Even @techwizardry is lower in his volume.

Perhaps everyone decided to head to church on this Sunday.

Nice, bookmarked steemapps.com 😍

Great news. Resteem!

Since Steemit Inc has most likely quit, I propose a new concept.

I know you and I don't have the programming skills to make changes, but there are some out there that can.

Here is the concept.

  • Have the witnesses create a list of To-Do assignments to make improvements to the STEEM blockchain. Each one well defined and broken into small manageable tasks.
  • Publically review the tasks for acceptance and approval.
  • Allow individuals to code the change
  • Test net new changes prior to release
  • Top witnesses accept or reject changes by accepting or rejecting witness node software updates.

All very good ideas and worth a shot. I think the witnesses have to be more selective with the code the accept and that it would be of benefit if other code was submitted to them by people other than Steemit.

My idea is to make a walktrough video about the apps that we have. So with that two sites I can show every app that we have. Thanks for sharing,
Cheers!
