As technology increases at an incredible rate so do the risks. I joined Steemit at an interesting time in October, during the DDOS attacks. So I can relate to the effects this kind of an attack can have on a Business.
In these times, many Companies will step up to Solve the ever changing Problems that will inevitably arrive. When trying to solve a problem, mankind has called upon the power of Leverage through History. Gladius uses Leverage to counterattack DDOS attacks. They allow participation on many levels and compensate based on a sliding scale seen below :

Their program allows for many to participate allowing potential investors to calculate Profits based on estimated Daily Uptime and Upload Speeds in a Favorable Market.
So, Gladius Leverages the Collective Bandwith of the Community and rewards them while Protecting the Community at the same time. It’s another option for those who have considered Mining for Cryptocurrency but would like to use their Bandwith for another cause such as Security. Another nice option to Diversify your Portfolio.

Overall, I think this is an interesting approach to DDOS Attacks. It empowers those that wish to be protected by allowing them to actively participate and get paid for their Bandwidth while also doing a good service. I think this creates another layer of "Value" that investors should consider when evaluating the ultimate worth of their Portfolios.
