Kampot, Kep and Rabbit Island - Cambodia - Part 39

So my memories of this place will probably be my accommodation – a hammock on a roof top for only $3 a night. Quite comfy, although a bit noisy as the birds rise early to serenade you. The after effects not so pleasant though as I was bitten by the crawlies!
In the morning I tried Corko. Corko ended up being beef so it was spicy beef soup and bread for breakfast. Interesting!! I walked the monuments and went down by the river before making my decision not to stay and grabbing a bus to Kep.
Arriving in Kep the plan was to walk to a guest house but it was far too hot so I caved in and got a tuktuk. I walked along the seashore and National Park but very difficult in 35˚ heat. Looking forward to a refreshing swim I was disappointed to find the waterfall had dried up but was rewarded with fantastic viewpoints and a sunset.
Morning saw me take a boat to Rabbit Island. No – no rabbits. Also no roads, no cars and not even a hotel although there are some simple rustic bungalows on the beach. However, there is plenty of beach of which I soon became bored. I am not one for sitting around so decided to walk the whole island which only took about 2 hours. About 80% of the walk I didn’t see anyone and the people I did see appeared to be locals along with a few vicious dogs that were obviously not used to strangers! Hard to believe on such a small island but I did manage to get lost a few times – haha!!!
