Large Hadron Collider: the end of the world is closer than we thought

in #busy6 years ago

Surely everyone at least once was interested in: “What is the Large Hadron Collider and why do we need it?” His intended purpose causes fear and apprehension among sensible people. What is the future of all mankind, if the experiment still succeeds? The minimum information that scientists sometimes report cannot satisfy our curiosity. Let's try to understand together whether everything is so sad indeed.

The Large Hadron Collider began to be built in 2001, on the border of Switzerland and France. At a depth of 100 meters, the accelerator's circular tunnel was laid with a length of almost 27 kilometers. The cost of this project exceeds 10 billion dollars. The European Center for Nuclear Research is the owner of the site where the Large Hadron Collider is built. Representatives of 100 countries, 10 thousand scientists and specialists, including from Russia, took part in its creation and in all the experiments carried out later. Today, the Large Hadron Collider is the most powerful particle accelerator in the world. Several thousand nuclear physicists are conducting experiments on the acceleration of protons and lead ions to almost the speed of light, after which the particles collide with each other. The detectors fix everything, and 1625 magnets are used to hold the proton bunches. Each magnet is estimated at about 1 million euros. The results obtained are carefully studied. In this interaction, the theory of relativity is contrasted with quantum field theory. Scientists have no last link for the study of elementary particles, which prevents the creation of the theory of quantum gravity. And if you learn to manage it, then the person will reach unprecedented heights in technical progress. And we really need it? Now let's talk about the perceived danger of the Large Hadron Collider for all life on earth. What will human intervention in the nature of the universe lead to? Experiments have been going on for 10 years, but there seems to be no cause for concern yet. And in spite of all those who doubted the collider, scientists discovered the Higgs boson or as it is called the “particle of God”. This is an unprecedented breakthrough in science. Translated from physical language to human, the Higgs boson is the carrier force of the electromagnetic field of the Universe, without which there is no mass at all. Many scientists are far from optimistic and have long been sounding the alarm. Martin Rees - the famous British astrophysicist even wrote the book “On The Future: Prospects for Humanity” (translation “On the Future: Perspectives of Humanity”). In this book, he clearly expressed fears that further experiments with the Large Hadron Collider will create black holes and they will swallow the whole earth, with all its inhabitants. The German chemist Otto Ressler, a professor from the University of Tübingen (Germany), agreed with him. He warned that the resulting microscopic black hole would grow rapidly, capturing particles from all sides. Gravity will move it to the center of the Earth and from there it will begin to destroy our planet. And the black hole will cope with this for some two years. During the life of Stephen Hawking, he tried to calm down general hysteria assuring that black holes would appear, then they would remain without particles and disappear. But he was also quite concerned about the increasing energy of the experiments. Hawking feared that the Higgs field could move to a lower energy level and fall into “absolute vacuum”. And then hello, the end of the world! Other scientists also express serious doubts about the safety of the Large Hadron Collider. There is a high probability that the experiment will become uncontrollable and bring death to all living things on earth.
And still very frightened by the fact that the opinions of scientists really versed in nuclear physics, do not betray wide publicity. And very few report on the Large Hadron Collider media. Coincidence? Probably not.
