These animals, which are often called simply mountain goats Oreamnos americanus, are not wild goats. Wild goats belong to the genus Capra. Mountain goats are more like gazelles and antelopes than wild goats, although they do not look like gazelles or antelopes. It is the only species of the genus Oreamnos.

Mountain goats are high mountain animals in the Rockies. In fact, they occur naturally in the Rockies. Some have been transplanted elsewhere, as in the Cascade Mountains, but in other areas, they are not native.

These goats have a double-layer white wool to help them resist cold sometimes and blend in with the snowy ground. The inner layer of wool is hollow and isolates the animals, like the fur of polar bears and elk.

Both the newborns and the nurses have horns and beards. The horns are black, about a foot long and bent backward. There are some rings on the horns that usually tell their exact age.

An adult pooler can stand at a height of just over three meters on the shoulder and normally weighs around 150 kilos, although exceptional people who weigh more than 300 kilos have been recorded. The body is up to six feet long without counting the eight-inch tail. The babysitters are slightly smaller than the billies, with shorter beards and horns.

Mountain goats are famous for their ability to climb steep and often icy slopes. Their hooves have a sharp, hard and sharp finish that allows them to make purchases even on icy slopes of over 60 degrees. Helmet plants are soft and form a sort of non-slip surface. Because it is an ungulate animal, the toes can be extended to give them extra traction. So they can climb up what looks like cliffs and jump effortlessly from one rock to another, even in snow and ice.

These creatures have few enemies because they live there. They can actually turn into normal predators and even young people are experts in climbing.

An unusual thing for babysitters is that all the nannies in a package get warm at the same time. The pregnancy lasts about six months and children from six to eight pounds are born between the end of May and the beginning of June. In one day children can move and climb.

These goats are vegetarians who eat mainly grass, moss, ferns and anything else they can find. They are known for nibbling and eating needles and branches of conifers. Much of his time is devoted to foraging.

Mountain goat tats are protective mothers and can sometimes be aggressive when it comes to protecting their children. If they can not keep children safe from danger, they will dominate them, they will bend their heads, ready to defend the young.

In nature, it is rare for a mountain goat to be more than 15 years old, because the teeth are consumed when eating rustic herbs. Loss of teeth means that the animal cannot eat and die of hunger. This happens to the elephants, even if they have no relation.

Despite the harsh environment and the fact that they do not live long, mountain goats are not classified as endangered. On the contrary, they are listed as less important.
