POEM: POISON
I tasted the ivy
The poison coat
It beckoned I wear it
And crossed my moat
Of body and blood
Like it owned
My vein and veil
Human abode
I battled and smothered
The permanence
Of this poison squatting
And making a fence
When it left me
My blessings dry
Brushed my skin
Which birthed gratitude
From within
