I didn't realise it was option to buy below yr level.

It's a question of personality. If a Dolphin buys a Plankton ticket, expecting 50% of the costs to be covered by sponsors, then this says a lot about his community spirit.

Or they might just be a poor dolphin! At some point I might dig into how far steem wealth correlates with fiat wealth. It ain't perfect!

I'm just glad steemfest 3 coincided with me selling my flat - a once in a lifetime event which has made me feel relatively flush.

I bought 'at my level' but if it weren't for that flat sale it may not have happened.

Well Steemfest tickets can be paid with Steem and many users power down a bit in order to afford a ticket at their level. That's how I did it last year.

Yet, the real costs of the event are flight and accomodotation, and that's where fiat comes into play. I would need to take at least three airplanes and travel one day (one way) to get there. Last year I even needed to buy a new laptop (another 500€) for my speech.

Steemfest is not affordable for everybody, but I'm glad there are a lot of contests that enable a few people to get to Steemfest and stay there for free.

Enjoy your time in Krákow though! :-)

Cheers. Yes I'm lucky to be able to make it this year.

Those competitions are a winner for sure. No pun intended!
