I haven't been active for about 3 days and I dropped about 25 followers. Why does this happen?😒
This site is frustrating due to the lack of traffic and people just generally not bothering to help each other out.
The 25 followers I mentioned are all bots. I have no idea how many of our followers are real people. I've read that there's only about 60 thousand active users daily.

I had been laboring under the illusion that life on SteemIt would be grand the moment I became a redfish. I am now fearing that the only way to thrive here is to get involved with things like @Steemitbloggers .
got mostly bots or some non active kind.. maybe 3 active followers.. rest just count collect... i usually upvote followers, ut no SP in use at the moment, cause of waiting for delegation to return..takes a few days i hear.
delegated 20k to smartsteem.. suppose to be 6.7 something daily revenue.. the income resolved to something like 0.007.. almost went to go crawl in a corner haha
Oh wow I was just looking at delegating! I heard that steemauto was down for a minute though. Maybe it will be working better soon? How long is your steem delegated for?
steem-ua i hear is new on the block, which might be worth looking at. id delegated mine for a few days, but when cancelling its 7day wait i think.. before it's returned.
I'll look into it. At this point I'm actually about done with bots altogether. I have experimented with quite a few by this point and a lot of them just straight up lie or are not consistent enough to my liking. Steem smart and cyrpo n custard on my following list have had the best results for me. Although no bot has ever really gained me "good" followers.
briefly tried a couple of bots, after saying no for a year.. income was little but no real loss.. might try steem-ua.. or keep with smart... getting active followers i've given up on.. except for the small few that i talk with from time to time.

I think that when a follower becomes "inactive" (not interacted with you in the last 100 posts he/she disappears from your visible "following list") and turns into a ghost-follower, but I guess you can turn those back by interacting? Then there is "dead-followers" they also disappear from the following list because they have not logged in the last month...
But I could be wrong...?
I was digging into this when I was doing research for this article on resteeming-services.
That's a pretty cool website. I just always wonder how many bots are actually following me. From what I know building a following is just this way. You do certain things and it takes a long time before you actually make significant dollars. I enjoy the time I spend on steemit though and your interaction helps.😁
Thanks @pwny. Yeah I noticed that many people dropped off when the price started dropping, but I like that because there is much less spam now and the vibe is less hysteric. I think the people who are here now just really enjoy rambling in their blogs and commenting and reading, interacting and such, also STEEM is really cheap now so (this is not financial advice) its a good time to buy some and mess around with upvoting and resteeming services/bots to see what works and such, also the whales and dolphins who still use steemit might be easier to interact with and that is good I guess...
But from the looks of it most whales have their power locked into bot delegation, to earn passive income, I don't blame them, but It would be cool with like a 20 dollar upvote from some random whale every now and then... =)
It's not the follower. It's the amount of comment you're receiving from each posts. I have about 850 followers, I bet more than half of them are resteem bots. Cause I only seen less than 200 of them upvote me most of the time. Haha

You can auto upvote my comments by setting up Steemauto whenever I leave a comment on your post, the bot will auto upvote me at 30minutes. So you can collect back your curation reward. And I don't require so big upvotes, as long the value is bigger than 0.008(which will be seen as 0.01), and you'll be able to collect back 0.001sp. Auto comment upvote is only maximum twice a day for the same user, so you won't drain your voting strength. Save some power to fish for new friends. I will continue to support you!

As for auto upvote, I view it as form of "investment". Why do I auto upvote you? Simply because I don't wanna miss a thing. I can only consume about 10 posts a day, and I rented some delegations to upvote ALL my friends. Many were asking, Dave have you gone completely out of your mind? Because I'm paying to rent SP just to upvote others. On an average, I could lose up to 8 steems every month. Put it this way, my current vote worth 6¢, a day I can vote at least 60¢ out. A week, that's 4.20$. And 4 weeks, that's $16.80 gone out to the market. After deducting curation reward 25%, I'm still sending 12.6 to the market. What a small price to pay for bigger reward to my friends.
As for the follower, like you said we don't even know who is real and who are bots. Take it slow, and let the good times roll man. One day you'll realized you're talking to a Chinese bot (me) rotfflmfao.

I don't think following is as important on this platform as it is on others. The important thing on this platform is actively engaging with others.
