Getting Ready For Tomorrow

Every year in October my Family celebrates a tradition that is usually done in the provinces or barrios. It usually the elders that still celebrate the tradition of the Holy Family. Some call it Holy Family, San Jose or St. Joseph or others like me, we call it Dicenueve or 19 because most people celebrate in March 19 the feast day of St. Joseph.

But because a lot celebrate in March it is hard to attend all invitations or invite others. So my Mom decided to do it in October because my younger brother 's birthday is Oct. 19.

We prepare a round table or some square where we have 2 people an older man representing St. Joseph, a younger girl usually 12-14 as St. Mary and a young boy 5-7 yrs old as the Sto. Nino or baby Jesus.

The family prays the 9 days novena and the 9th day is the day of celebration. So this evening I prepared the round table. Will post more about the affair later.

The table set for 3. Our family tradition requires 4 plates and a saucer, rice plate and soup bowl.

The setting.

Near the altar where they will kneel during the novena, it is short. Then after that they will sit at the table and be served food, 3 viands per plate and 3 desserts. The people will go around pay homage and give alms for them.
