Naina Devi is a very sacred place for Indians. The Nainital is named after Naina Devi, the place where this sacred temple located.
There is a very famous story behind this place as It is considered to be one of the 52 shakti peeths where the eyes (Naina) of Goddess Sati are believed to have fallen when Lord Shiva carried her body and Lord Vishnu destroyed the dead body by His chakra.
The Naina Devi temple is considered among the all the temples a very very sacred pilgrimage by Hindu devotees. The temple was reconstructed after the landslide of 1880 which had devastated it completely. This place is also known for it's unparalleled sight seeing and authentic atmosphere of Hills and Ghats and tales.
