PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA #3

This is the third series of Places to visit in Nigeria. This post was inspired by @surfyogi.. He wanted to know the beautiful places to visit when he comes to Nigeria, so i decided to write about it here. I see a lot of Travel bloggers and Tourists on Steemit sharing beautiful pictures of places they have visited and i couldn't help but to appreciate the beauty in my own country to. So just in case you are a tourist, here are few of the many beautiful places you can visit in Nigeria. There are hundreds of Tourist places in Nigeria so i'm going to divide this post into series. And if you missed the second series, click here

By now you should have an idea of the beauty of Nigeria. Firstly nigeria is the most populated country in Africa, she is known as the giant of Africa. Thus it is an avenue for Tourism, ranging from Ancient shrines to beaches to beautiful rocks and a beautiful Tradition and culture. Without further ado, let me take you round my country through this 6 tourist places briefly.

OLUMO ROCK

Olumo Rock is located in the city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was used as a fortress by the Egba people in the early 19th century, it is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria. The name Abeokuta means “Under the rock”; and the Olumo rock has a height of 137 metres above sea level. During inter tribal wars in the 19th century people who found refuge at the Olumo rock. There are natural tunnels, unusual trees, natural cantilevers, gardens on the rock, broken pathways, monuments of the belief system of the rock’s primeval settlers, three escalators at the characteristic height of the rock as well as an aerial and atmospheric view of the antique city of Abeokuta, from the apex of the rock. If you love adventure, Olumo rock got you covered.

ASO ROCK

Aso Rock is located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria. it is a large outcrop of granitic rock located on the outskirts of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The Aso Rock is a 400-metre (1,300 ft) monolith and is the city's most noticeable feature. The nation's political power houses are located around it, The Nigerian Presidential Complex, Nigerian National Assembly, and Nigerian Supreme Court. Much of the town extends to the south of the rock. "Aso" means victorious in the native language of the (now displaced) Asokoro ("the people of victory")..

NIKE ART GALLERY

Hey lovers of art! We've got a gallery to.

Nike Art Gallery is an art gallery in Lagos, Nigeria owned by Nike Davies-Okundaye. The gallery is arguably the largest of its kind in West Africa. Housed in a five-storey tall building, it boasts a collection of about 8,000 diverse artworks from various Nigerian artists.

The gallery is so beautiful that it attracted both local and international audience. Some of which include: The Ooni of Ife, Richard Quest of CNN, The Italian ambassador to Nigeria, The French ambassador to Nigeria, etc.Whether it’s a family outing, class excursion, couple’s vacation or solo outing, the gallery has room for everyone. It also provides the perfect venue for photoshoot sessions and art videos. You can know the history of Nigeria in the beautiful works of art exhibited there.

KANO CITY WALL

The Ancient Kano City Walls (Hausa: Kofar Na'isa) were ancient defensive walls built to protect the inhabitants of the ancient city of Kano. The wall was built between 1095 through 1134 and completed in the middle of the 14th century. The Ancient Kano City Walls were described as "'the most impressive monument in West Africa"

AGODI GARDENS

You are in Ibadan, Nigeria and you need a relaxation spot after a hectic day, Agodi Gardens will do just the magic. Agodi Gardens is a beautiful park in the city of Ibadan which has risen to become one of the top tourist attractions in the country. Also called Agodi Botanical Gardens, Agodi Gardens, Ibadan, the site is a serene environment on 150 acres of land. It is usually patronized by families during festive periods and weekends. It’s peaceful and calm environment makes it a perfect destination for you to take a break from the hustle and reevaluate life values or hang out with friends and family. TARKWA BAY BEACH

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, then Tarkwa Bay Beach is for you. It is more private and less crowded. Tarkwa Bay is sheltered beach located near the Lagos Harbour. It’s a popular with swimmers and water-sports enthusiasts, also home to a welcoming resident community. You’ll love this beautiful island that far removed from the hustle and bustle of Lagos. Tarkwa Bay Beach, unlike most public beaches in Lagos, isn’t often noisy or overcrowded. This makes it a great place for some alone time with your significant other or perhaps a fun day out with your friends.
