How to cross the road in Vietnam
My first few hours walking around Hanoi, seemed like a crazy blur, traffic noise, hooting, more hooting and more traffic that never seemed to stop. I had been walking on the right hand side of the road for about 10 minutes, and need to cross over to get to the old quarter, but I wasn't sure I would ever make it.
In a city like Hanoi there are 7 million residents and 5 million motorbikes. Ho Chi Minh is even worse. So how do they do it?
When you see a gap in the road, you step out. Don't be alarmed motorbikes start coming towards you, they will swerve around you. Once you have stepped out keep walking. Don't stop, Don't run and don't step backwards, if you do you will mess up this crazy flow of traffic. Show confidence, keep your head up and keep going until you get to the otherside of the road.

@nickyprescott - Yes, the traffic can be insane in some cities in southeast Asia. Glad you made it safely to the other side!
