Steem or Stack?

On the road today and while catching up on the markets I ran into an email from the United States Mint that the newest Palladium Coin is still available for purchase. This is a similar minting from one I participated in last year when it was the first ever minting of a Palladium coin from the United States Mint. Opposed as to what happened last year where the offering sold out in minutes, there seems to still be supply available for purchase.

I enjoy to stack every once in a while and the rarer the metal, the more I like to have of it! I started to consider if this could be a good chance to add to my stack as I think my invested asset allocation still has some room for some metals given the recent improvement in sentiment and price in most metals traded on the commodity futures exchanges. However, I quickly ran into a couple of thoughts that made me think about the best marginal investment I can make at the moment.

While looking at pricing, I quickly remembered how much it really costs to buy directly from the United States Mint as the asking price is almost $2,000 whereas the spot price is around $1,600. This is a 25% premium against the value of the asset and while I still think prices can go higher, the thought of adding to my portfolio is to conserve value not risk it. However, the new today that the New York Federal Reserve Bank had to step in and provide support to the repo market quickly reminded me of the credit crunch of the Financial Crisis and got me seriously thinking about where I have my money and how much is available. We learned very quickly that liquidity can play a major role in the solvency of the financial system.

Enter Crypto... Contrary to the days of the Financial Crisis, we now have the power to take control of our monetary sovereignty. Instead of ordering some metal and waiting for it to arrive weeks later to store some value, I can now go to my most trusted crypto exchange, buy assets and send them almost immediately to a wallet I control. Having done that by a good amount over the last couple of years whereas almost 20% of my invested assets are in cryptocurrencies, I still seek a better opportunity to earn while I participate in the future of the monetary and financial system.

Enter Steem... or better yet #NewSteem (I said it finally)! Thinking very much about how that one Palladium coin can add more than 10k Steem to my account and leave me so much closer to the coveted Orca status! Given how hard it is becoming to earn more of it, it sure seems like a great opportunity but digging further, we can see how changes are paving the way for the investor side of Steem to come back into the ecosystem. The ability to leverage our stakes continues to expand every day.

Even writing my thoughts here and sharing with the community a post will earn me a handful of Steem in seven days! I will end the night playing some Splinterlands and earnings tokens and more digital assets to build my portfolio as well! #NewSteem has plenty to look forward to!
