Lobster (Panulirus spp) is one of the fishery commodities that have important economic value. Prices of lobsters are high in both domestic and export markets. High lobster values and smooth market access encourage the catching of lobsters in nature to be carried out intensively. The high intensity of lobster fishing has created pressure on the population in nature.

In addition, lobster fishing is often done in ways and tools or materials that are not environmentally friendly, causing damage to the lobster habitat and the environment. This condition if the continuous-going population of lobsters in the wild will be increasingly threatened sustainability.

Lobster has a very wide spread from the temperate to the tropics. Habitat of his life from intertidal area (tidal) to deep waters. Several types of coral can live at a depth of 400 m. The lobsters of the Palinuridae family (Panulirus spp) are identical to the coral reefs or aquatic environments associated with coral reef ecosystems, which are also known as crayfish. Palinuridae likes to live on holes or crevices of coral rocks and the base of living coral reefs and dead coral and rocky sand along the beaches and bays.

Bamboo lobsters (Panulirus versicolor) for example, live in coral waters to depths of several meters. Usually inhabits sheltered areas among rocks and is rarely found in large groups.

However, some species live on rocky substrates, mud or sand and create holes that the environment is not directly related to coral reefs.

Initially it was estimated that crayfish were scavengers, because more of the crayfish ate the baits attached to the trap. But after analyzing the contents of the stomach and observations in the laboratory, the opinion was not true. Foods from crayfish are animals that are still alive or just killed, and lobster is quite selective in choosing food.
